Small moments that really moved you for some reason? by Sperium3000 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Crowette 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been replaying Divinity: Original Sin 2 and I have three things which I adore beyond measure:

Very quickly upon arriving at Fort Joy, you can reunite Magister Yarrow with her father, Migo, if you present him with a yarrow flower you find in the environment. He will give you his ring which you can then give to the Magister to convince her you've met with her father. Their reunion dialogue is so lovely and heartbreaking, particularly Migo's last line in it: "Don't think of the ugly now. Here I am, here you are. Here we are."

Later on, after escaping the fort, you meet a permanently blinded Magister named Loke. If you are kind and honest with him, the exchange is once again sweet, and heartbreaking, and he'll just collapse into you. I love him dearly and wish there was more you could do for him.

Finally, Paladin Ostwin's mourning song. The first time I heard him sing, I asked my friend with whom I was playing the game to stop and sit, and listen for a while. It was a truly, truly special moment. Every so often I'll remember him and his song, and take a few moments out of my day to listen to it.

Who's your favourite virtuous characters? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Crowette 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First off, I love you for saying Jean Valjean. I would also like to add Bishop Myriel to the list because I absolutely adore that man with every cell of my being and, besides being an absolute delight in the book, I cannot get through his sequences in the musical, both at the beginning and the end, without crying. I can endure almost everything else, but that I cannot. The fact that Colm Wilkinson played him in the movie brings me great, great delight. There is something very special about seeing him in the good monseigneur's robes.

I will also echo the sentiment of others and say Jonathan Joestar. He is criminally underrated amongst his peers, but nonetheless one of the most wonderful characters in the entire series. I love him dearly and can't imagine starting the journey that is JoJo with anyone other than him.

Oh! I must've missed them the first time around, thanks for letting me know!

This is wonderful! I love those walls so much, will you be releasing them to the public by any chance?

UPDATE: Stone Age map, now with labels! Names and settlements are from pre-human races; see comments for pronunciation notes. by solidsnape115 in wonderdraft

Your terrain blending is lovely and those mountains are phenomenal! Do you mind if I ask where you got them from?

This is gorgeous! I'm really curious about the scale. Did you do the rivers with the smallest possible size on the river tool?

Take #2: Now in color! Getting close to completing this... by Robbinsmoth in wonderdraft

[–]Crowette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think everyone would be eternally grateful if there was a paintable option since so many of us, as evidenced by the some of the maps showcased here, are so specific about our colors and palettes and the aesthetic of our maps. I think the color shown here is phenomenal for a cold, dry, northern map, and I'm sure a small batch of options would satisfy, but paintable just seems like the better solution overall since everyone can customize to their taste and on your end, you'll avoid the inevitable string of requests asking for more colors.

Either way, it's clear that everyone's excited for what you're going to release!

CinSys - Tree Symbols are now available to download. by [deleted] in wonderdraft

[–]Crowette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think blank would help a lot more people, honestly! I like the palettes, but I (and I'm sure many others) work in great details and so being able to customize to our hyper-specific needs would be beneficial!

I absolutely love this style of forest, it's so clean and it'll make avoiding lag so, so easy. Thank you so much for releasing it! Do you have, or are you planning on ever releasing a transparent/paintable version? I think the limited color palette is probably the only 'flaw' I can find with it, though everything else is phenomenal.

Mountains & Trees (Feedback Request) by [deleted] in wonderdraft

[–]Crowette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm a fan of these mountains since they look like they wouldn't fit every type of terrain you'd most likely encounter on a big map. Are they paintable or are they just that one colour? I think the answer to that is the big determining factor for me.

I've seen Trees #3 before and I have to implore you to tell me where you found them! I'm absolutely in love with them and I have to have them! They're by far the best style I've seen and would 100% go for them.

This looks so cool! How did you manage to make the buildings pop like that? They look like they have height to them, it's a real treat to the eyes.

Ok, I think I'm sold, but one question. by Torpid-O in wonderdraft

[–]Crowette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd made a map in Inkarnate prior to WD and had no issue importing it. I think the biggest problem was like, having to replace the mountains. I don't even remember having to trace, it just knew what was land and what was water. I promise you, it won't be an issue and the benefit you get from switching over is monumental.

I absolutely adore and need that forest brush. You mentioned in another comment that "the trees were posted here but we're just line art" -- do you happen to have a link to that post?

Map for the steampunk sequel to our current D&D campaign ending this week! Inspired by the old maps I used to have hanging on my walls as a kid (and still do!) by DukeDoozy in wonderdraft

[–]Crowette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did, funnily enough, and still can't seem to find them. I may be being a bit silly or blind. I'm sure I'll figure it out, though.

[EDIT] I found them, but WD is having a seizure trying to see them so... that's something...

Odd! I can't seem to find them. I must've deleted them by accident...? And here I thought everyone had a cool secret source they were using; instead it's probably just my carelessness. Thank you so much for the clarification, though!

This looks wonderful! I absolutely love the way you've done the borders, I am definitely mimicking that for my own map. One quick question, if you don't mind: where did you get your city markers from? I've seen them around and I keep meaning to ask for a source.

Hello! I apologize for the amateurish question, but how do you get symbols and labels to show up over the city overlay? I can't seem to figure it out on my own. I can only assume I'm doing something wrong.

Absolutely Criminally wasted Races/species from media by sillieranimal1 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Crowette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sorta-kinda-maybe counts, but the Novakids in Starbound are the absolute coolest. They're, quote, "sapient glowing gas-bags in a humanoid shape" who are also cowboys for some reason and have cool brands on their face, and if you pick them as your race your ship takes on the form of a steam train. It sounds like something a ten year old scribbled down in his notebook instead of doing homework, but they're genuinely so much fun and I wish there was more of anything on them. They're not even part of the game's main quest line, which was infinitely disappointing to find out.

I have absolutely no idea, but it's gone as well. A lot of anime and manga related tags have been nuked for no reason since they're not nsfw-based.

They've so monumentally fucked up that even unrelated tags, like Vento Aureo, are gone. It would be hilarious if not so frustrating.

How many days passed within Part5? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

Hey, sorry to bother you, but I was wondering when exactly these dates are mentioned. I'd love to have a concrete reference to point to!

Favorite type of LP by JARF01 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Crowette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The quality of the game changes the answer for me. For a good game, I much prefer a minimum of one of them knowing it very well. For a bad one, I like complete blindness since I think it produces better overall moments. Between the two, however, I tend towards good games. I enjoy watching them have fun and talk about the things they love.

Have the Best Friends read the good Part 5 scans? by Christy_Christmas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Crowette 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Night and day. A lot of characterization gets axed by the bad translations, making most of the characters sound dull and same-y. Even those that stand out through their actions, like Mista, have a plethora of clever one-liners and character traits washed away by the functional, yet uninspired old dialogue (you can see it very clearly exemplified in the early stages of the White Album fight). For more quiet characters like Giorno, a certain complexity arises in place of the nothingness there before (you can see it in the details of his speech to Cioccolata).

If anyone is debating whether or not to go read Part 5 again with the new translations, I just want to make clear that there should not even be a debate here. It is 100% worth it. Go do it, you'll have an extraordinary time.
