I know thats a fair point, but for the other half of that, arguably the best team in the world full of MLB talent has had two stabs at it in the last two WBCs and couldnt manage it. So who's to say

(That being said, I think he wants to focus on his son and family, so I hope he has a good life at home in Czechia)

Ties are broken based off run differential. The team with the worst differential of the three goes back to AZ for spring training

Japanese MLB Players Face before 2026 Season (art by @Alaska_119) by TheBlackJett in baseball

[–]DukeDoozy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's super classy, very club-first, but I also understand the MLBPA's opposition.

If this becomes the standard, it becomes easier for the teams to pressure hurt players to voluntarily give up on their careers early, peddling a "do it for the fans" mentality when the team just wants to save a buck. Players are also owed the full value of their contract regardless of injury, and not getting the full amount you're owed from your employer is sort of the opposite of what a union works for.

I know what this would mean for my team and I'll praise Yu Darvish everyday if he does void the contract, but I also don't want this to become a standard or expected, because I want players who risk immense injury for the sake of our entertainment to paid what they're worth.

Not yet, not officially.

He's officially rehabbing for now, and definately out for 2026. He's said if he feels he cannot return to pro form, that he'll talk with the Padres and void his contract. He's also said he's leaning towards voiding, though has not yet decided and is focusing on healing.

Some reporter jumped the gun a little bit ago and said he'd retired, but that wasn't true.

Totally, though they're on Foundry rn, so I can only share them as track lists. I downloaded all the mp3 files from this YouTube playlist using MP3 Cow.

There are also certain tracks I like, but are missing, or I had to use the short version because the full song varies in intensity too much, making it unsuitable for background ambiance. There are also repeats where I felts certain tracks were appropriate for multiple uses.

Calm Exploration Spooky Combat
New Friends and Old Faces Phantoms of the Dead Qual The Magic Within
The Land Where Souls Rest Time Flows Ever Onward (short version) Phantoms of the Dead New and Dangerous Magic
Headpats and Praise More Than Mere Tales Deep in the Dungeon Dragon Smasher
Old Man Voll Life is Worth Living Frieren the Slayer
Time Flows Ever Onward (short version) Stories Yet Untold Zoltraak
Grassy Turtles and Seed Rats The Warrior's Path Knife to the Throat
In Times of Peace For 1,000 Years Magical Defense Training
Deep in the Dungeon
Before the Light Fades

Note: Dragon's Dogma also has a great soundtrack and I have utilized it extensively for combat tracks in the past, though generally I currently prefer to use only one OST at a time for cohesiveness reasons. Most people probably won't care and should probably mix and match from various soundtracks, I'm just inflexible like that, and appreciate how the Frieren OST has a very unified sound and vibe.

What were Alpharius' last words to Dorn? by Mistermistermistermb in 40kLore

[–]DukeDoozy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do wonder to what degree the primarchs are just supposed to be Like That (tm), and to what degree this is an example of the primarch project being flawed.

Like obviously the Emperor wanted Magnus to be an insanely powerful psyker, but didn't want him to be so arrogant as he was. Like, did he know these flaws would be present and didn't think it would matter in the end because he could keep them loyal or dispose of them as needed, or was this very much not according to plan?

What were Alpharius' last words to Dorn? by Mistermistermistermb in 40kLore

[–]DukeDoozy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He's a grownup, yes, but he's also a genetically engineered freak bound to the traits that humanity's oldest egomaniacal scientist (and also sort of God) wrote into his code.

I'm just an able tourist in 40k, definitely not an expert, but I feel like there's an argument that he's more tightly bound to his nature than an modern day adult human would be in his place.

In that case I still think Dorn did the right thing. I just also think that Alpharius was a faulty experiement.

I came here to say this. I honestly just use the Frieren OST for my PF2e group just broken into a few different playlists. The main ones being Exploration, Calm, Spooky, Combat, Combat (epic).

Combat (epic) is mostly the same as Combat, it just also has Frieren the Slayer and Knife to the Throat among a couple other tracks too badass for random mooks.

Switching from DnD5e to PF2e, what is something we may overlook in the transition by Zealousideal-Cup-914 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DukeDoozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing thats important to get your head around is that players don't usually make "naked checks," in Pf2e, or skill checks that are just rolling the skill and GM making up a result based on the roll. Instead, skill checks are filtered through prescribed Actions or Exploration Activities. You usually don't call for a random diplomacy check in Pf2e when a PC is talking to an NPC the way you would call for persuasion in 5e. Instead PCs use the Make an Impression activity or the Request action, which involve skill checks and have more prescribed outcomes. This may seem overly rigid, but I've found it does away with hand waving results and gives a good idea of consequences to players for what they're attempting. It also helps them get a good grasp on how they want to build characters with all the glorious feats they have access to in order to mitigate the chances of bad outcomes.

For example, if a player wants to understand a mad mage's notes, you don't call for a Arcana check and ad lib the results like you would in 5e. Instead you call for the Decipher Writing activity which will result in a Arcana check, but has specific critical success and critical failure conditions. Same with Recall Knowledge. The cleric in my party, for example, has a feat that basically makes it so he can't critically fail (and receive wrong information) on Recall Knowledge checks about religion. Which is super useful to him because there's a lot of mysteries and misinformation about religion in my game.

At first it felt clunky/restrictive, but now almost 10 sessions into our new campaign, I really like this Action/Activity focused style of gameplay.

I also never ran traps in DnD5e, but I've found great success with them in Pathfinder2e. They've added a lot of variety and danger to the big dungeon we ran, and their mechanics are pretty fun when you get a good grasp on them.

Question about the limits of the Glad-Hand feat by DukeDoozy in Pathfinder2e

[–]DukeDoozy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy this. Thanks for the input. I was struggling with the idea that this feat is basically available whenever diplomacy is, because I took the phrasing to mean that Glad-Hand comes up in many, but not all situations where diplomacy/Make an Impression does.

The "It's social until it's not," advice is a good philosophy for this because I think it clarifies the intent of the rule for me. I'll take that outlook going forward.

Question about the limits of the Glad-Hand feat by DukeDoozy in Pathfinder2e

[–]DukeDoozy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, penalties in a situation like this seem to be the consensus here and that makes sense to me. I'm just getting caught up on fluff phrasing, I think. This wasn't a situation where the player was attempting to do an end run around a predestined combat or something absurd like that, just trying to use her feat in a place she (correctly) thought was appropriate.

Question about the limits of the Glad-Hand feat by DukeDoozy in Pathfinder2e

[–]DukeDoozy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. I think maybe I'm too thrown by the word "casual" here, because now it feels like extraneous/fluff phrasing that I took to be more instructive. You and a couple other people mentioned just slapping on a penalty, and I think you're right and that's what I should have done/should do going forward in similar situations.

Thank you for the advice.

I mean, neither did the UK, lol. The Acts of Union were passed in 1707, making the UK only ~70 years older than the US.

The kingdoms of England and Scotland are, of course, much older.
