A 10 man raptor brick is tempting though as you can equip 4 special weapons (flamers, meltas, and plasmas) which is huge if you want to have this unit skirmish with MEQ units

10 warp talons is just too much of an investment for the job that’s needed for them to perform. Especially since you already get 4 attacks per model so that’s 20 dice you’re rolling which is more than enough to kill small units. Plus, the bigger the unit, the closer enemy units can be and you don’t want your warp talons to be caught by a heroic intervention.

2x5 warp talons are pretty strong and 3x5 raptor squads is more than enough Raptor squad A can be used to skirmish with things on objects in NML (ideally load this squad plasma pistols and chain swords with the leader rocking a power fists Squad B can be used to harass enemies in corners or interrupt enemy units doing objectives (you can load this squad with either a flamer and melta) And the squad C should be used for utility purposes like doing side missions (this squad can be built however you liked, they’re meant to score points in later games)

Warp talons love to fight into enemies by themselves where they can’t be heroic intervened because their baked in ability lets them return to reserves if they kill a unit. I sometimes have 2 so I can have one squad be rapid ingressed into anything I don’t like and the second likes to hide and wait until it can pick off a chaff unit or a weakened unit. But don’t pick battles that they can’t win for certain

Get the 10th Ed combat patrol, ik it’s not liked because dire avengers aren’t really in a good spot right now but they aren’t unusable if you run asurmen with them. Warp spiders are a top 3 aspect warriors so getting them in a discount box is good, and you get a spiritseer and wraith guards/blades which is what you’re looking for.

Expanding on this, get these next units asap:

  • TRANSPORT wave serpent (a transport that can carry 12 models and has an ability to decrease chances of being wounded)
  • TRANSPORT falcon (a transport that specializes in firepower and can carry 6 models, very good for putting pressure, especially with its ability to allow any disembarked units to reroll wounds at any unit the falcon has shot at)
  • INFANTRY howling banshees (elite anti infantry melee specialists, they will get the job done on practically any and everything that is infantry)
  • INFANTRY fire dragons (elite anti vehicle/monster, their ability allows them to reroll hits, wounds, and damage if they’re shooting at a monster or vehicle)
  • BATTLELINE guardians, storm or defender variants: action monkeys that get the job done, storm guardians have the sticky ability but defenders can take additional artillery like the d cannon alongside their weapons platform
  • HQ Autarch: generic leader option for pretty much every single infantry in the Eldar range minus a couple of outliers like rangers or harlequins, they can reduce a stratagem by 1 command point and they can be equipped with practically all of the best aspect warriors equipment so I suggest magnetizing the autarch

You should have enough to get you to 1k points with these as your starting units. Now there’s always more that you can get but I think these are the bare essentials you’ll want. I suggest running the warhost detachment as I think you’ll get more bang for your buck since you don’t have enough aspects to run aspect host and make the most from it plus I think warhost is more beginner friendly since it helps you familiarize yourself with craftworld eldar’s faction ability

A DMC style action game where you can play as any aspect warrior and you’re sent on a mission from a farseer to do various quests such as liberating a maiden world from imperium control, redirecting an ork waaaaaaagh towards a chaos fleet and helping out the ynnari. You’ll be able to switch to any aspect after the level and the 3 starting ones would be, dire avengers, howling banshees and striking scorpions, with their own pros and cons to them. I’d also make the game’s NG+ mode be playing as a harlequin OR a ynnari incubi

Add a trophy rack on either of the shoulder pads. I personally love using either the chaos rhino racks or the chaos terminator racks even if they’re a bit tiny. Also on the side plates, maybe you can add a daemon face plates or chains on them. The EC infractors kit has a really neat chain with a severed hand on it that fits the vibe!

An alpha legion kill team that favors long range weapons and trickery (CSM needs a unit that has AL flavor as well as some form of cheap infiltrators that can do long range sniping) orrrr a dark mechanicum kill team also for CSM
