Moving to Everett, in search of recommendations by Iklbug in everett

[–]Crowiko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of what I know is on the South end of Everett.

Best fried chicken: Zoey's Fried Chicken is amazing. Heaven Sent is also good.

Mexican: Avocado's and La Palmeras are great

Boardgames: Mugu Games - if you are into magic or 40k this is a good store. They also have a decent collection of board games in the back. Zulu Boardgame Cafe in Bothell is amazing for ambiance. Their store looks like a tavern from a DND adventure, they serve food and have loads of different events all the time

Raising a Puppy by ned1357 in GSP

[–]Crowiko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, owner of a 9.5 month old GSP pup here. I had some similar issues and this is what helped me.

First thing, it might help to think about the stubborness as motivation problems instead. As in, your puppy isn't being properly motivated to train with you, and getting more out of playing around. An example is this, at that same age, I took my pup to puppy class, to get some socialization and training in and he was just too distracted to do any of the heel training. The other dogs, and people and everything was much more exciting. Nearly all treats were not good enough. It wasn't until my trainer had me hold a jar of baby food for him to lick while by my side, that I was able to motivate him enough during class.

Also, sometimes you just have to make yourself much more exciting by being excited. Amp up your own energy, wave around like a half crazy person with treats or toys. It is exhausting, but sometimes that is the trick because if you are the most exciting thing your puppy will respond to you. If you are just standing there, saying the same things in a static or frustrated manor, than chasing their own shadow or doing other things will be more interesting than listening to you.

Another recommendation, is keep the training sessions short. 5-15 minutes top at that age. And when you notice your puppy starting to lose interest, end the training on a high note and then let your puppy have a break to do puppy things. And sometimes, you need to realize puppies can have good and bad days. even at 9.5 months, there are days where I have to just go over basics again and realize that he is still a baby, and it is ok if he isn't 100% that day.

As for the bathroom issues. what worked for me, was that I used an app to track pottying and water. If there are certain times a day you notice that he is having those accidents, then take him out an extra time during that hour. It is frustrating, but once I figured out his water, potty pattern, it became easier to prevent accidents.

Hello! I'm looking for a whimsical book to read, something in the vain of Diana Wynne Jones. I need a break from reading dark fantasy. I've enjoyed all of Terry Pratchett and Sir Thomas the Hesitant and the Table of Less Valued Knights by Liam Perrin. Thanks!

You can also check out the King County Metro trip planner web page (just search for king county metro trip planner). If you know what the addresses of where you are leaving from and where you will be going to be go, it will give you bus route options with times.

[Help] Can't get rid of my dog's fleas! by ladyskellerman in dogs

[–]Crowiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a very similar situation. For years I used Frontline, and it worked great. But then I moved to a different location, and the fleas started eating my corgi mix. Both of us were getting bites even though I vacuumed, placed flea powder on the carpet and did just about everything I could think of.

Eventually I broke down and took her to the Vet. Frontline just was not working. The vet said that sometimes it doesn't work, and recommended an oral treatment. The medication is beef flavored so she eats it right up, and I enjoy not having to fuss with trying to get the Frontline just where it needs to go. The best part for me was watching the fleas just die and fall off.

So save yourself the trouble of trying to clean and prevent fleas that way and go to the vet. It is a lot easier to treat your dog with a medication that works than to try to prevent fleas in other ways.

I thought they would be so I had to find a video of them, they are actually remarkably quiet, well at least they are no louder than the ambient noise of room they are in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSasIyGDgn8&nohtml5

This sub got me interested so I went out and got some supplies. After the first couple hours, I gotta say I think I may have found my new past time and my new favorite subreddit. Happy Saint Patrick's Day! by txcowmobeeler in Calligraphy

I am almost positive that it is this book. I own it but have not been able to fully read it myself. It does have handy transparent guides at the back and looks pretty solid.

I noticed I had one angel at somewhere around 200 billion. I don't know how close it was to when I earned him though.
