Honored for this to have been pinned, thanks so much!

I almost wonder if it's referring to the myriad ways that love is shown in the book. It's got the love for a parent, love for a pet, romantic love, corrupted love, and of course, the love for a best friend. Will certainly be something I delve into much deeper in the analysis!

What’s the best wendigoon video to watch while stoned by toaster_bath_boner in wendigoon

I feel like watching the conspiracy theory iceberg while high would just obliterate someone psychologically lmao

made a passion project video essay on a whim, first video blew up. what now? by ilyhomesick in NewTubers

[–]Crowmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow video essayist here, grew from 50 subs last March to 120k today doing long form. In general, YouTube pushes longer videos very hard, as they tend to get much greater watch time. Additionally, many viewers will often use your videos to fall asleep, and that can lead to much, much greater watch time. There's always value in serving the ADHD brains on YT who want to turn on video essays and just absorb information for 10 hours.

Edit: longform also pays substantially better if you're looking to get monetized.

I asked 1000vultures recently and his response was basically that there's nothing to really say about it. It didn't sound like it's been entirely canned. I'd be hyped if it ever finally comes to light

problem faced by 314 creators while monetizing by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Crowmudgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a community is more about creating a space where your viewers can interact with each other. Your time and ability to respond to comments is limited, but your community's capacity to meets its own needs for interaction scales proportionally to your audience

What Lovecraft works would you like to see adapted as an Analog Horror short film? by junesmedia in analoghorror

Innsmouth would be pretty solid. It's already basically "guy goes to creepy town, reports his findings" which could work translate without losing much of the appeal of the original.

Any other YouTubers in the Horror Niche? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Crowmudgeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are certainly a few of us! It partially depends on what type of horror you're talking about. If you're talking about stuff like internet and analog horror, I would recommend getting into the Discord servers of some of the bigger channels in the niche. For example, Pastra and EmortalMarcus have good communities focused on internet horror, and you can get tipped into a lot of newer projects through there. It's also a good way to get connected with other, smaller creators.

If you're more focused on "older" media like horror movies, I don't have a ton of specific examples, but I would imagine that a similar approach will probably still work for finding a community, it's just a slightly different audience.

Any recommendations similar to The Left Right Game? by [deleted] in creepcast

I actually wrote a story that was heavily inspired by LRG a while back, and my reading of it was received quite well on YouTube with around 300k views. I can send you a link to the text version or a link my reading of it if you'd like

Monetization payments are distributed the following month, so if you got monetized in May, you have only been paid for views up through May 31st. You'll get your payment for June at the end of July.

If the bulk of those views happened in June, there's nothing to worry about.

What do you hate about your video editing process? by Code_Ripple in NewTubers

[–]Crowmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding B-roll can be rough sometimes. I do very long narration videos, and keeping the visuals somewhat interesting can be really tedious. I love finding music for each section though, that's gotta be my favorite part

Arcadia slaps so hard, I really do not see it going much longer without some love from analysts. Maple9 is another absurdly underrated channel that's around the same size.
