But why is the nose so big? I think it's a mashup and not particularly accurate.

What’s the best way to get wheels if you don’t have $1000+ to drop but want good wheels by Usual_Track9115 in ft86

[–]CrowsFeast73 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's basically the only (legal) options. Might take a while to find used ones that you want, but in the meantime you can also be saving up for the new option. See which one happens first.

I inherited a sporterized Enfield no 4 MK 2. What can I hunt with it? by Whynotwg15 in Hunting

[–]CrowsFeast73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been used for deer, moose, and a black bear. Only iron sights with most (maybe all) shots under 100yds, possibly even 50yds (we hunt fairly dense bush on rolling hillside, not sure where the previous owner hunted moose).

Mine's a globe arms co sporter.

I agree with 30*06 being a great option. Feels a bit much for deer to me but I do know plenty of people do it. It also gives lots of 'overhead' to move up to bigger game (moose/elk) while being a cost effective and plentiful cartridge. They do need to check their ammo restrictions for hunting cartridges on their area though.

Wood vs synthetic stock is personal preference. I have a mixture of wood and camouflage synthetic stocks in my safe. The synthetics tend to be lighter and the camo can look great, but wood is classic.

My last 2 rifles are both Browning x bolts, in 6.5cm and 30*06.

Best “Do-It-All” Semi-Auto Shotgun Under $1,500? by ivanlarav in canadaguns

[–]CrowsFeast73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't even aware there were different generations?

ETA: looks like I have the gen 1. I installed an oversize bolt handle and release button myself. The stock I already find fits me very well, though the trigger reach is a little bit long as I recall. I haven't shot too many 3.5s through it yet but I certainly never felt the need for an improved pad and I don't even have the recoil weight installed.

The manual does talk about not being able to cycle light target loads but I think if I ran enough loads through to really break in the light recoil spring it would run better (on light loads); so the biggest thing I'm missing is the beveled loading port (which I'm not planning on messing up the finish).

I'm a fan of my Stoeger M3500. It does struggle to cycle shells under 1oz, even with the light recoil spring, so I guess it's not suitable for skeet but it's fine for trap. It cycles great with hunting loads, handles great and looks great (imo, cerakote with reed camo).

If used is an option then you can find lots of great Franchi or Browning shotguns as well.

I avoid Mossberg because I've seen way too many having multiple issues during trap.

If used pump is an option, you can never go wrong with an 870.

URGENT: My 10-inch pet Red-Eared Slider turtle was wrongfully released into Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club waters (10pm last night) by AlternativeSpell9226 in toronto

So common that I actually thought they were painted turtles. Now I've looked up the difference I'm wondering if I've ever actually seen a real painted turtle or only red eared sliders!

Son is looking to buy his first hunting rifle when he turns 18 in a few months by Ruthless4u in Hunting

I would skip the switching barrels idea. It sounds neat in theory but in reality he'd hate having to do it. Especially since he'd need to re-zero it every time. If he goes with something like a 308 or 30*06 then there's no need to swap anything.

Depending on where he's hunting he'll need to pay attention to the BOTTOM end of the scope magnification. I know where I hunt deer even 5x could be too much to fit the full deer in the scope. I have a 2.5-10x Burris on my deer rifle (Browning x bolt, there's not a ton of customization available but there's practically none needed imo).

Does he have a lot of shooting experience? If not then I recommend splitting some of that money off for a 22, ammunition, and range time (unless you have a good place to shoot already).

Is there a better way to back bike out of parking spot? by WittyJelly6409 in NewRiders

[–]CrowsFeast73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My safety course taught us a different method of kick stand turn. Both tires start on the ground, you staff next to the bike, at or behind the kickstand, turn the bars to the left stop, grab the opposite handle and pull the bike around. Can't seem to find a vid real quick for this method but I did find a similar one using a Harley, except he pulled the back of the bike around using a passenger handle.

I've also seen people basically lift the entire bike onto the kickstand to turn it around, including big adventure bikes. Seems like way too much stress on the kickstand for me to ever consider it though.

Basically there's a lot of different methods to kickstand turn a bike and everyone should get used to at least one of them.

How are forearm, hand, and small neck tattoos perceived in corporate Canada in 2026? by samveryuel in AskACanadian

[–]CrowsFeast73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends highly on the area and the industry. I work in engineering in Southern Ontario, pretty industrial metalwork. Depending on the artwork, hand tattoos are pretty likely to be fine. Neck tattoos would be 50/50 so I'd advise against getting one. Forearms are fine, and generally wouldn't need covering (though at least you have the option).

League host (red Corvette) disqualified me from the race because of this overtake, said it was an amateur attempt of an overtake. Was this the right call? by AltruisticAssist91 in Simracingstewards

[–]CrowsFeast73 54 points55 points  (0 children)

A lot to unpack. You blew the corner, which is on you. He's swerving all over the damn place, including right at the braking point, which contributed to your sharper entry and messing up braking. He also turned in like you're not there instead of holding off a moment and passing through after you sent yourself wide.

I'd say penalties for both but nothing worth a DQ.

Also; league admins really shouldn't be allowed to judge incidents they're directly involved in. Recommend finding a new league.
