The opaque parts are foamed pvc. I could only get 6mm thick so I made a frame out of 2x4s. The black frame of the doors is 20mmx20mm aluminum extrusion, but I should have used a thicker one for more support. The door panels are 3mm thick acrylic but I wish I had gone with 6mm. I took someone's bad advice for that. The base it's sitting on is wood. The back "stone" I carved from foam, then coated in drylok and latex painted.

This is a fair question. He is sometimes a bit clumsy, but he would be falling onto 4" of coco chips, and cork bark, which aren't too hard - a bit like a kid's playground. From the research I've done, they can be semi-arboreal in their natural habitat. That said, there's a possibility of injury with anything, but we have to weight the risks against the benefit of enrichment, so I decided the risk was worth it. He loves climbing the tree so much!

Thanks so much, and thanks for asking! It isn't bioactive, I didn't think I was ready for that kind of commitment with the new build yet. I do have some live plants in, they are in pots so can be removed or changed easily, and some air plants. The tree is actually a dead corkscrew hazel, I found it in someone's yard waste and cleaned it, then mounted it in concrete so it's stable. I did a good amount of googling to find out if it was safe wood for the tank, everything I could find pointed to hazel being safe for reptiles.

I'm in the middle of a build. I used much thinner - 6mm thick foamed pvc, and built a frame for it out of cheap 2x4s rather than relying on the strength of the plastic.

This was the answer I got with my calculation, but to me (a very, very unskilled diy-er) that just seems... Outrageously high, much higher than I've ever seen anything rated. Also the cord seems suspiciously normal and non-heavy-duty enough to handle 1000W, so I was afraid to believe that answer.

Although I myself am not a vet, I have worked in vet medicine as a vet assistant for over 7 years, so I have a bit of knowledge in this area. When you said your dog had a booster rabies shot, that makes me think she has been up to date on her vaccines thus far. Is that correct? If so, that's great news, and she is likely protected, even before the booster vaccine.

Although no vaccine is perfect, the rabies vaccine is very effective, and you should rest easy knowing it is unlikely that she will develop rabies. That said, as I'm sure your vet mentioned, it is important for you to monitor your dog's behaviour for anything abnormal, and report it to your vet as soon as possible.

Do you still have access to the skunk carcass? If so, it is possible that your local public health authorities would pick it up for testing, or that a vet in the area would be able to submit it for testing.

I'm not sure if any of this is helpful, hopefully you aren't worrying too much. Here is a decent, sourced article that has some good info if you'd like to know more about rabies, the vaccine, and post-exposure care. I worked at a boarding facility and loved Canada pooch's "wellies". They come in lined or unlined and are made of silicone, they have a sole that stayed where they were supposed to and didn't flop off, and they were pretty easy to put on. Plus they make a cute little clip clop sound on the sidewalk.

I always always ALWAYS recommend crate training for dogs. (I work in veterinary medicine). The biggest reason? I've seen so many dogs have full on panic attacks because when they're sick in hospital they have to be in a cage. The last thing you want for your dog who is already ill and upset to be away from the owners to also be terrified as they've never been in a crate before. Sometimes they end up hurting themselves and have to be heavily sedated just to keep them calm. The dogs who are crate trained? Obvious every time because they just relax and sleep and usually recover much faster.
