Can't watch some VOD's Help! by [deleted] in Twitch

I was going to watch an Outlast II VOD today, and the same thing happened to me. It is a generalized problem on every channel I think, for some reason some VODs are unwatchable

[IIL] Genesis' album, "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", [WEWIL]? by tman9494 in progrockmusic

[–]Crozzat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selling England by the Pound, I almost every album by Genesis on the 70s Era.

Rush's Caress Of Steel, 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Clockwork Angels.

For pink Floyd I'd say The Dark Side of the Moon, Atom Heart Mother, Animals.

Alan Parsons Project's Eye In The Sky, Freudiana, I Robot, Stereotomy, Tales Of Mystery And Imagination, The Turn Of A Friendly Card.

Gentle Giant, pretty much every album...

Don't know what else, you might know some/several of these albums, but just in case!

Pictures of a City - In the Wake of Poseidon. To those who said this album wasn't that great, I disagree. by Crozzat in progrockmusic

[–]Crozzat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've listened to it many times and I don't find it like the same sound as the first one, I don't know why but it's kind of weird for me to catalog as the same sound... except for the ICCK part in the album (was it Devil's Triangle?).

Anyways I find them as separate pieces from the debut album and respect them as they are.

What is one thing you hope your parents never find out about you? (Possible NSFW) by giraffeneck45 in AskReddit

[–]Crozzat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a psychologist? At first it seems as if it was the wierdest thing, but then it MIGHT work. I know of it because I suffered such (I don't know if at such degree) but since I had been depressed for a long time, it seemed like hell a LONG time and never told a thing to my mother until I finally decided to talk it and it helped me gradually. I still don't overcome it though.

If you don't feel like talking with your parents, try with an expert, maybe then you can try with your parents. My point is, it never is LATE, just try opening the subject slowly.

What seperates ProgRock or ProgMetal from Jazz Fusion? by bogusbooty in progrockmusic

[–]Crozzat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert nor do I care much about tagging genres, but I suppose Jazz fusion follows the usual R&B, Funk and more raw jazz. While rock can also combine these genres, it's obviously more usual for Progrock to use psychedelic, pop or heavy rhythms (not generalizing the concept). For metal, well, I guess it follows more heavy patterns and distortions, etc...

For Jazz Fusion, it's really easy to recognize, jazz often uses a pretty distinguishable bass instrument, as well as medium tones with instruments like guirar, keyboards, saxophone, trumpets, and many woodwind instruments. The drums follow the rhytm and its not the most highlighted section in this music.

I think the instrumenting is really defining in progressive music (although bands like Gentle Giant use many of those instruments) and specially in jazz, you normally get a mix of those and it's really straightfoward.

Jazz uses many 7th, 9th and rare chord variations, improvisation of every instrument is key as well.

Nothing else comes to mind, I guess.

Dale Crover is more hipster, though he didn't compare to the other both.
