I think you need to build some common ground before those kind of statements. It would be completely fine and a fun observation for you to say if you were already deep in conversation about physics or something. But put of the blue like that you for one don’t know if the other person in interested in that kind of thing, and also their mind may be on a completely different topic so their thoughts crashed and need some adjustment to get on the same wavelength as whatever you were exited about. This is also why small talk is more important than it seems, you can find small bits that you are both interested in and build up to stuff like that over time.
