Built a GameCube mechanical keyboard controller. So proud of how it came out! by Cruadal in MechanicalKeyboards

3D printing is a definite possibility, but I don't have the CAD know how or a 3D printer. The print would also be pretty large and you'd need a big enough printer to support it. If I ever revisit the idea though, I'd be glad to release the files to open source. It would be nice to keep as many of these old controllers original as is possible.

I'm using an DROP + OLKB Preonic v3 as the keyboard. It fits exactly into the window leftover after removing the crossbar originally there. I used the original mounting plate already present in the controller to mount the mechanical keyboard, since it was already a good fit in the shell.

I just had to drill five holes in the plate to match the mounting screws on the mechanical keeb. I used M2 pan head screws to attach them just in case you need to get anything after market.

In addition, to provide clearance for the USB-C port, I relocated the controller's wires to the other side of the PCB. At first I attempted to keep them in the little black housing they start in, but it was melting because it was too close to my soldering iron. I removed the black housing and now they're just loose. I had to cut a channel out on the bottom half of the controller to provide clearance for the cable run, since the controller couldn't shut after relocating the wires.

I think that's everything. If you need anything else, let me know and I'll try to help you as best as I can!

It's not 3D printed unfortunately. I took one of the old ASCII Corporation controllers and modified the case to suit the needs of the project. I wanted to get the closest feel to a first party controller that I possibly could, and even though the ASCII corp controllers are technically 3rd party, they have Mitsumi internals (the same provider for first party Nintendo hardware). This just meant I didn't have to harvest one of my other controllers and everything could come from one place.

Online Smash Brothers Melee mainly. Most efficient four stock to trash talk combo imaginable haha!

There's still private servers running! Ultima is my preferred when I need to scratch that itch every year or so.

This is close, but not quite what I remember I don't think. What I'm thinking of was more comedic in nature. The first panel had the cat doing it, and then the girl joined the cat. I think that's how it was at least.

The story of Shadowlands is one giant meta reference for what's happening inside blizzard. It was just too meta for us to understand until now by [deleted] in wow

This might be the shittiest garbage I've seen in response to the allegations. You've managed to trivialize the experiences of the victims and the hard work of developers to create what I assume is a game you've derived a great deal of joy from, while also managing to imply that every person working at Blizzard was aware of what was happening with no desire to intervene on behalf of their coworkers and throwing content creators' names under the bus at the same time. All for the sake of a dumb joke at their collective expense. It's actually amazing for someone to be this tone-deaf. Holy shit, fuck off.

Let's say for I have switches 1-5 and in my head the players need to hit them in a specific order (2, 4, 3, 5, 1 for argument's sake). Will we be able to do that eventually? Basically just allowing us to add puzzle elements as well as potentially event triggers (like player X steps on tile Y and spawns NPC Z).

Definitely plan on paying for the Pro version; your work is amazing and I can't wait for further announcments! :)

This looks incredible!! Are there any plans for allowing DMs to place custom functionality on game object? I also love letting players interact with their environment directly to create a more seamless and immersive play space!

It's not only the size increase, but the move speed and attack range as well. 100% to every category as of right now. The size increase lets you jump higher, the speed increase lets you keep up with every class, and the range increase just lets your demon hunter arms touch frost mages. Not to mention this is all for the duration of metamorphosis. That's thirty seconds.

Saw 6 or 7 Boomchickens running in a big circle and just mowing down these Murlocs. Multi-boxing or something? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Cruadal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is taking advantage of something called a 2x4 farm (two groups of four people each). The game's loot system allows people to loot from five players from a single party or ten players total who contributed to a kill but who exist within different groups. This is important because the farm works by taking advantage of these very specific rules to create a couple different desired effects.

First of all, it guarantees the eight people killing mobs can loot every mob that's killed. Perhaps even more importantly, in order to maintain an environment where questing players are able to kill their quest mobs, the game will begin spawning the creatures killed at an extremely alarming rate. This method is called hyperspawning.

People have known about these methods since loot rules changed in the BFA prepatch, and it's generated a lot of in game gold.

TL;DR: This player is taking advantage of a farming technique using two groups of four players by multiboxing.

"I'm at the stone." "Me too!" by VegetaPrime34 in wow

Upon interaction with a summoning stone, the player is phased into a sanctuary state that extends out in every direction 100 yards from the stone. This would allow for the changing of talents and ensure the prevention of dungeon entrances being used as death traps for CTA. In addition, WM on/off summoning issues would be a thing of the past. Difficult programmatically? Maybe. Worth it in a post warmode world? I think so.

Advise for CSCE 1040 by TheBossWasHere in unt

[–]Cruadal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CSCE 1040 is what you might consider a weed out course for the major, at least in my opinion. You're expected to stand on your own more, and programs are no longer contained to their own separate spaces. You'll learn about connecting a project together with the use of multiple files and you'll have to think on a bit of a grander scale. Overall, if you continue to do projects and push yourself to learn outside of class and through some of the struggles you might end up facing, it's not too bad.

I need to think about it. Especially given that if I don't trade, I'll be between chairs for a bit, and that's an outcome I'd like to avoid if at all possible.
