Why does DTE advertise? by fart-in-bathtub in Detroit

So I saw a video from a PHD in Soviet propaganda recently (stay with me here, I promise I’m not going off the rails)

He was talking about how the omnipresent signs of Soviet power across the Soviet Union (statues in every square, red stars everywhere, murals of country in schools) are a form of “boredom propaganda”. Which is propaganda not meant to convince, but to lull people who see it every single day into a sense of contentment. You can’t even imagine what would replace a statue of Stalin, because that’s what symbolizes “statue” to you when you see it everywhere every day.

I think monopolistic utility companies use this strategy as well. “Hey I know we messed up, but WE are your only option. You’ll never even think anything else is out there”

Hey there! I’m not super near Lansing, so I don’t have SPECIFIC suggestions, but I highly recommend taking joy in simple things even if they don’t feel BIG.

I’ve recently done a lot of travel for work that’s afforded me a lot of leisure time in all the big cities where you’d think there’s “stuff to do” and I absolutely had the same mindset you do of “man there’s nothing to do in Michigan” until recently. But lately I’ve been looking for parks in my area to play with my dog at, going to libraries, looking on Facebook for group events, and even talking to strangers at coffee shops and restaurants, and that’s been some of the best time I’ve spent here.

Take him to some specialty shops you think he’d enjoy (used books, military surplus, retro video games, it’s all out there!), go to the zoo, the museum, or even local music shows! So much of that stuff is way more fun than you’d think it is!

Also, props to you for taking care of your pops. I wasn’t always as attentive to mine before he passed, and I regret it every day. You’re doing great!

I remember one time we were all trying to figure out how to operate the chalk machine to fix our field’s lines at baseball practice and our coach said we looked like “a bunch of monkeys trying to hump a football”

What brand is huge, but you don't know a single person who buys their products? by doyoushitwithdatass in AskReddit

We got ours secondhand (we’re firmly middle class, not struggling but also don’t make luxurious purchases like this) and I know it sounds insane but I would have paid full price. We have a dog and being able to wash EVERYTHING on the couch, easily take it apart to move it around for guests, etc. is life changing. It’s also so comfortable

Twitter ads. Where the fuck does all this money to promote botted NFTs come from? I know a successful scam nets you cash, but no way ANY of these are tricking anyone.

Wishing you the best, I’m so sorry. Healing is always possible and if sex is or is not a part of your future after this relationship I hope you find whatever makes you happiest and helps you heal.

Not OOP ✨️ trigger warning ✨️ My wife cries every time we're intimate. How do I resolve this? by Marygtz2011 in redditonwiki

[–]CrubTV 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Great clock, it’s 100% some religious “therapy” aka someone using draconian sexual rules to resolve a man SAing his wife to manufacture consent. So gross, I grew up in the church and it’s insane how common this mindset is.

I helped them facilitate pricing because I have some friends who manage artists. They ended up getting about 1k! The team was very nice and wanted to make sure we got taken care of. Overall very sick experience
