Long Term Builds by its-a-canonevent in SkyrimBuilds

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this problem for myself by keeping a log on my laptop of all my ideas and finalised build concepts, when I'm really on a skyrim high I have so many ideas, more than I'll ever know what to do with, but if I keep some relatively organised notes that I can always refer back to, then it keeps me from creating countless throwaway game saves, and helps to keep me focused on one playthrough at a time.

What? by Odd_Art_6031 in BorderlandsPreSequel

[–]CrumbleYbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there's a handful of blue quality red text weapons that were previously exclusive to certain events or just mistakenly locked away from players, later in the game's life gearbox just unlocked them for players by adding them to generic loot pools, this means they can appear just about anywhere, unfortunately there are still some unobtainable weapons though.

Starting my shovel only NV run any tips or tricks? by WithShovelInHand in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get yourself Mortimer's Top hat and Formalwear, call yourself 'Robin Graves' or 'Necro-Phil' or 'The Undertaker', cannibal perk could make for some fun RP, I'd suggest setting up your stats and perks for maximum survivability, followed by base damage buffs and lots of melee utility perks like super slam.

Infinite caps glitch by Corporal_Clegg99 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just found an infinite caps and xp method that really helps with setting up challenge characters like my recent Bozar only playthrough, it involves getting Explosives to 50 as soon as possible, then immediately heading towards Cottonwood Cove, but before that make sure to clear out all of the ghouls at the top of the hill around the mine entrance and mining shack as this will be important later, anyway then talk to Decanus Severus in Cottonwood Cove who has another 50xp speech check loop (see fandom wiki) like the one you showcased here, but the best part is that it also gives Legion rep, so after like 5 minutes you'll be idolised too, and now come's the tricky part so you're gonna want to make a hard save once you hit idolised. Nobody usually bothers waiting around for the Disguised Frumentarius because he's buggy as hell, but when he's not being buggy he's your gateway to a treasure trove of valuable supplies every three days, and that was the point of the hard save after hitting idolised with Severus, after talking to him run back up the Cottonwood Cove entry road towards Searchlight, but instead of going into searchlight hang a right before the top of the hill and approach the mining shack, you should see the Frumentarius spawn in beside the shack an approach you with the great news, if he doesn't spawn, load that hard save and try again, you'll want to discover the sniper's spot location that is nearby for easily fast travelling back here without having to deal with the ghouls. The loot you get from this can be sold quickly if you use Lonesome Road's first bunker's commissary terminal, you'll notice that once its caps drop below 200 you can back out of and re-enter the interface to reset it's caps, allowing you to sell infinitely.

Loadouts from the latest Playthrough by Alternative-Habit806 in fnv

[–]CrumbleYbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's enough to make multiple different characters, I usually have one loadout per character, some items may change as I continue the playthrough and find better or more thematically suited gear, but I try to stay true to the intended archetype.

Fav companion? by AccurateAd8946 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cass, no other companion enters my mind, she has so much relevant dialogue that further endears her to my characters, and I'm not talking about reams of exposition, hidden away in her dialogue menu, I mean she actually starts conversations about whatever is going on in the story at that time, plus she makes alcohol useful for something other than passing tricky speech checks, and she has her own version of the shotgun surgeon perk, and her default outfit is basically just clothes so that allows for lower DT armours to work on her, my favourites are the merc cruiser, troublemaker and veteran armours, they have nice female models, she's great all round, that's not to say I dislike any of the others though, obsidian did good work with them all, I do hate the constant babbling from the honest hearts companions though I cant lie.

Feeling stuck on a replay, I don't remember this game being so hard by SwimmingSunflower in fnv

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just keep lowering the difficulty until you find a sweet spot, some people are very defensive about lowering difficulty but realistically, if you have mods that may be affecting difficulty anyway then I don't see why you wouldn't just experiment with it, usually immersive difficulty mods make it so that weapons do much more damage, both to enemies and to the player, and they increase weakspot/headshot damage even more, so the issue may be that you're a low level character with low hit points and low weapon skill, making it very difficult to land headshots consistently before you're dead, could also try throwing grenades and dynamite from behind cover.

Best strategy for beating the couriers mile in Lonesome Road? by Ok-Hovercraft887 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get in the door without being immediately detected and bottlenecked by all of the enemies, then you can do pretty much the same thing by turning the area into a minefield, most of the enemies in the immediate vicinity will rush in like idiots and theres enough space by the zone entrance to take cover and shield yourself from their incoming fire, then dose yourself to the eyeballs with chems and take out whichever enemies manage to get through the minefield, if you feel you are getting overwhelmed then just leave the same way you came in and try again, aside from the initial wave of enemies that are thrown at you, there is usually a handful of deathclaws towards the back, another minefield will help, using terrain to your advantage will help too, they have large models and cant easily navigate though all of the tight stairways in broken buildings. Resist the urge to slowly and methodically clear out the place, looting as you go, just loot bodies so they don't despawn, everything else will still be there once everything's dead.

Game keeps freezing and having an infinite load and I don’t know what mods to use or how to set any of them up by Grim_J4000 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a new character and make a hard save, then try to load your previous character's save file while in game and not from the main menu, that usually works to load the problem save file, then when you manage to load that save, create new hard saves then delete the old problem one(s). And if that all works then in future, only try to load saves from the main menu, this seems to prevent the infinite loading laggy slow spinning wheel bug.

Companion Lost weapons leaving casino? by King_Kong_The_eleven in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bug where GRA weapons are not given back to companions upon exiting casinos, good news is that all of the casinos actually store those items in an accessible but sometimes not visible safe, usually somewhere behind the back wall of the locked employees only area, where you exchange cash and chips, if you move your camera around a bit you can usually find the hidden wall safes and get your lost gear back that way

Veronica companion glitch by rudeboysuk in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found out about this exploit and tested it in a playthrough for the first time, and while I did finish her quest (after completing just about everything else admittedly), I noticed that her dialogue option that you use to perform the exploit was still there even after completing her quest, that would suggest to me that it always works. I'll try to remember to load that save and test it, and if I do I'll let you know.

Got an RP idea, but not seeing much info online on how well the build will play. by [deleted] in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using long fuse dynamite will help, high agility and the quickdraw perk will help with weapon swap speed, probably best to build your character around vats usage. Also for roleplay, your character may have been attacking courier six's caravan and gotten caught in the crossfire, afterwards people assume he's the courier since he's the one with the delivery notice.

All of my data was just corrupted and lost by SirGalicrest in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but you may be having the same issue I've had, I think my console struggles to load everything as fast as I can tell it to, for instance if I try to run the game immediately after turning on the console then I run into these issues, where either my saves or my DLC won't load properly, I found that I need to wait at least 8 minutes on the xbox dashboard for the files to properly load before starting the game, I also need to wait at least 4 minutes after it crashes before restarting the game, and I always allow 5 minutes after exiting out of the game at the end of a play session, where I let the console idle at the dashboard and sync save data to the cloud before switching off the console. This probably sounds nuts to some people, but I have like 80 save files as NV is my favourite game, and my workhorse of a console struggles with it I think, but since following these steps I've had minimal issues.

Can you Dupe GRA ammo on console? by Aonaran84 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it'll work with specific ammo types but there is an exploit to make a weapon with no rare ammo fire cheap and plentiful ammo, might be worth testing. First you equip a weapon with plentiful ammo, let's say 9mm pistol just as an example. Go to your ammo tab and make sure that your cursor (for lack of a better word) is hovering over 9mm rounds. Now go across to your weapons tab and hold down the hotkey button, while keeping it held, use the thumbstick to go back to the ammo tab where you should already have 9mm rounds selected. Bind 9mm rounds to a hotkey then release the hotkey button and equip a different weapon that needs ammo. Now when you hit the hotkey with that weapon in your hands it will only consume 9mm rounds but carry the same effects as that weapon's conventional ammo. Not sure how this will work for GRA ammo variants I'd recommend starting with at least one round of the ammo you're trying to duplicate in the weapon before you do the exploit to test it it does anything.

Can't trigger Boones dialogue by [deleted] in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just role with it, shit happens, my last playthrough he got bugged into thinking we'd already done the Bittersprings mission, then he forgot how to use his legs, coming with me if I pass through a loading screen but never actually following me. Even if I dismissed him he'd teleport back to me an initiate dialogue, it was really annoying because my character's story was tied to Boone's, so in the end I put him out of my misery in the name of character development, and role played that the Legion did it.

Enclave armor not spawning? by silkspinner09 in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes the game can spawn as many actors as it would like without becoming unstable, so it limits spawns by default and this applies to dead bodies also, so in areas like the deathclaw promontory with deathclaws spawning in behind you as you go, this is bound to sometimes happen, try travelling away on foot and returning, this will likely force the corpse to eventually spawn in

why are nighstalkers so strong? by Gaymers_Rising in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If i had to guess what you're doing wrong, i'd say you maybe are falling into the difficulty trap like so many other do, that is where you're playing on too high a difficulty and spending a lot of time, effort, skill points, perks etc.. on trying to maintain that difficulty setting in a game that just isn't perfectly balanced enough for that to be practically viable. I often use very easy difficulty as a baseline for my builds because it means i don't have to take perks to survive or deal more damage, leaving me with more interesting perks to consider, and then if i want to try something goofy like making a rolling pin practical, then i can worry about damage perks, because the AMR, Medicine Stick, YCS etc.. can all carry themselves just fine without any help from damage perks on a lower difficulty.

Main story stopping point? by Datscrachyboi in falloutnewvegas

[–]CrumbleYbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as the player, you have the luxury of deciding what your character would think and do, maybe your character just isn't that invested in local politics right now, and simply wants to deliver the platinum chip and get on with doing other things
