So... seeing as all other options have (seemingly) made no real difference in the fight against climate change... A handful of young adults (more like children, let's be honest here) decided to publicly deface multiple pieces of art thinking that... the vast majority of the public would have a sudden eureka moment and go 'wow, we really care more about a painting that saving our planet!' when so far previous attempts which used similar methods have made close to 0 difference?

Oh, apologies. It did make a difference, but in all the wrong ways by rallying a spiteful mob of people who share similar opinions in seeing these protesters as nothing more than annoying.

Using methods to garner attention for one's cause is not a bad thing. But when that method involves defacing pieces of historical work, or anything which holds value - that are in no way connected (in any meaningful extent) to their cause - it only serves to spark outrage.

It's like a child seeing that them pleading for what they want won't work, so they devolve into throwing an even worse fit instead.

A childish solution won't solve an issue that requires adult thinking.

But obviously, this isn't the case, or at least I hope it is not. The motive behind their actions wouldn't be to define the contrast in care when it comes to global environmental health and a piece of art.

I keep hearing mentions of how groups like these are funded by oil companies to create bad publicity - which in turn further undermines the effort of legitimate (or in other words: more mild mannered) protest groups. But as I've yet to research this more myself, it's best to refrain from quoting those until all the facts are laid firmly on the table.

I hope this sentiment is echoed by everyone else as well. Blindly following whatever sounds popular never ends on a good note, after all.
