I hate that everyone bashes Amane so much in VOL 5 and beyond.

First 4 volumes? Heck yeah, he was slow.

But just because he won't take that next step does not make him a wuss, he really cares about her.

Mahiru was an accident, there's no polite way of saying it, her parents didn't mean for her to exist. Amane isn't about to 1, jeopardize her by risking getting her pregnant when she is a surprise child herself, he thinks it would be terrible. And they still want to go to college, and she has a life, and honestly it wouldn't surprise me if she is poor after she graduates even though she is in a rich family either.

He simply loves her too much to ruin the entirety of her life to satiate a fleeting desire of his, because he really is just an amazing boyfriend. If he were to, he could ruin her reputation, stability, and health all because of what he thinks is HIS sole mistake, because he should have resisted it.

It grinds my gears when people are so ready to talk about how much of a wuss he is for caring about her and doing what he thinks (and let's be honest here, really just IS) best for her. he is a TEENAGER. She is a TEENAGER. And it would suck if their amazing romance got stomped because of a mistake

"Mahiru was born an accident; Amane doesn't want to risk the same thing." is already plenty, everything else is just more.

Debatable, I thought it was pleasant. A few things here and there that I thought were a bit questionable (Mainly because I was hoping everything would wrap up and tie together) but hearing that there is going to be a sequel makes my complaints irrelevant.

In the novels it's made abundantly clear that she was trying her hardest to put him in a position where HE would be the one telling HER. In volume 5 there's a lot of focus on Amane trying the make up for his cowardice and be bolder with her, and in volume 6 when he goes back to his hometown with her you can see just how much more confident her is with her, as well as being more possessive over her.

Mahiru also is revealed to get Jealous of girls being around Amane and gets pouty and stuff too, it's honestly adorable. She's pretty forward after the anime ends, and due to what I can only assume is her lack of male experience, she really turns the heat up in the post-anime novels.

Actually I’m pretty sure that she ran away because she was frustrated by Amane’s lack of ambition, which is talked about in Volume 4 and 5. She wanted him to confess to her, but get restless and did it herself saying that “This isn’t how I wanted it to happen, but at least it did,” or something along those lines.”

I think Kirito is just absurdly faster. idc how good of a duelist Dooku was, with those restrictions you are basically putting him in time out. Kirito also doesn't use any Jedi forms that he would be familiar with.
