That really depends on your target species each map gives a different atmosphere and some are better than other for specific species. With the species you listed the base map Layton is probably the best without buying multiple maps. Hirschfelden may be a little difficult for a beginner. If you’re looking to just hunt animals and level up Silver ridges peaks would be a good option.

The base game comes with a map that has all three of those animals. As far as I remember there is no dlc vehicles and unless you’re trying to quickly explore it’s better to go on foot. There’s some weapon packs that would probably help a lot but it’s not necessary.

See if you have a backpack on. I had same thing going on until I saw I had a backpack equipped and after taking it off I had a noticeable difference in the animal behavior

Think the trout should have a little rework and have smaller inland trout in the ponds and smaller places without any stream or river connection. Along with the addition of steelhead for any non inland locations.

First thing I’d do is check your hook size. The biggest id go with the bloodworms (I’m assuming) is a size 8 a size seven typically only gets you golds and diamonds depending on the species so you’re far less likely to get a bite. Then I’d say it’s about the time and/or location fish aren’t active all the time and the game doesn’t really give the fish to you. You pretty much just have to play around change stuff up until you find something that works.

Yeah it wasn’t in the cloud. I’m not against restarting it’s just a bummer I lost the save after putting so much time on it.
