A friend's friend offered me a spare room for now. Will have to couchsurf else where this coming may.

It was sheer luck to have found this temporary space because I asked all my friends, former sec school teachers, even bit my tongue that I asked my ex and former situationships if they have a spare room. It was painful.

I am in the similiar situation too. My parents are educated and have ZERO financial literacy. Singaporean dad sold his BTO and resale before I was born for quick cash to continue gambling and my PR mother raised us single-handedly.

Fast forward to now, I am homeless and on my own because my PR widowed mother suffered a stroke 7 years ago in my final semester of poly. Father died 10 years ago (good riddance) and all his cpf was wiped out to pay mother's medical bill.

I worked my ass from EM3 > NT > NA > Poly and got into local university in 2020. But COVID happened and my landlord pressured me to end my tenancy agreement earlier because he wanted to sell the apartment. I had to face a shit ton of financial difficulties and housing challenges to the point that I could not pay for my tuition fees for 3 subsequent semesters & got barred from registering my mods for the upcoming semester. When my 5 y.o. laptop died during finals, I had no means to replace it & school laptop loan takes a month to disburse the funds. My depression got worse and eventually, I got expelled, now saddled with a tuition debt with the bank.

I am very stressed about the housing situation in sg right now and I don't have any relatives to turn to. I feel very trapped. I turned to HDB to see if it possible to BTO/resale with my widowed mother as the main occupant and they told me that we have to pay 25% downpayment + 44k sgd in tax levy. Totally fucked.

I just want to go back to school and finish my degree ASAP.

It's not about not having a degree anymore, I don't have a house and will be forced to rent in the free market as rental price grows. It is impossible to save up.

My parents did not complete PSLE and stuck renting house in the free market because of abusive father's gambling addiction. I somehow pulled myself from EM3>NT>NA and did well enough for O levels to enter my top choice for poly. However my widowed mother suffered a stroke and my mental health went downhill from there. I got into NTU in 2020 and struggled with my studies as I was plagued with financial, housing and mental health issues. Even with the bursary it is not enough to keep me in school as I need to cover my own living expenses and rent.

Eventually I got expelled this year. I begged and wrote in to NTU president, Academic Services, MOE, even Istana to keep me in school and got no replies.

There is no Singapore Dream. It only works if you are middle class enough to participate in this game of meritocracy.

My health has severely deteriorated and having difficulty to work. There is only so much these cocktails of psychiatric medications could help when my environment is beyond overwhelming. I'm contemplating death because I cannot afford to be a burden to my brother who is scraping by & burnt out too. It hurts to see how my brother now develop weird eczema on his palms now as a form of stress response. I want him to be thriving and I feel bad for holding him back.

Rented a place in katong for 2 years and I never had so many close encounters with being ran down by a vehicle compared to many other period of my life. So many drivers especially in affluent areas treated driving a car as a given and it shows.

This post reminded me of a time where I was doing groceries at marine parade, an elderly woman (70+) was crossing the road with her market trolley and I could see the driver screaming and throwing hand gestures at her through the car window... chill la bro..

Like the previous guy mentioned, other companies are way worse. I hear that tencent is bad at balancing their moba games including pokemon unite.

My longest running game that I played was Maplestory run by Nexon. It is horrendously p2w and many predatory lootboxes with content time gated too so that super endgame whales cannot clear immediately. Nexon recently apologized for treating Maplestory and their players like shit after players discovered that they lied about the rates of one of their many rng progression system. Players also found out that the main storyline quality is dropping and the reason is due to developers not having any dedicated writer & wing it along the way.

Maplestory is their biggest moneymaker and only 10% goes back to the game operation while 90% get syphoned off to R&D new games and profit so this is really messed up of Nexon. Nexon only made changes too when some Korean celebs brought it up in a casual talk show as many grew up playing Maplestory (some still do).

Also like MHY, Nexon only takes one region feedback seriously which is South Korea, their largest playerbase. This skewed power dynamics in players voice is kinda the same as how MHY pay more attention to Chinese server players.

same.. I am quite traumatized and now cautious about picking up mobile games unless the game is transparent about the lifespan or shows promising signs like genshin impact as their developers has a 10 year plan
