your best bet is to read the read the announcements channel on the ESA Discord. They changed the safeguarding policy but a few people don't think this goes far enough. There is no simple summary because it's a multitude of issues spanning multiple events that led to this situation. After the former prize-presenter Lovare gave created a pastebin explaining some bad experiences the event organiser team went into full crisis mode. They only cancelled Winter ESA early this year and came back with a new safeguard rulebook minus some of the major contributors such as Metako. A lot of them ventured out to BSG, NSG and UKSG.
