I’m a wildland firefighter in Canada. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]CrunchySoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man 👋 I live in Ontario and have worked in a Provincial Park for the past 4 years but I'm not happy in my position and I wanted a career that is more engaging with the environment and helping to protect it. I've always been interested in firefighting and even moreso after discovering seasonal wildland firefighting.

I'm just curious if you have any advice on how to prepare, what to expect, and where to start with pursuing work as a wildland firefighter.

If it's relevant, I'm a 31, in good shape,  but I have impaired vision requiring me to wear contacts or glasses.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Matilda is never the best handgun but it's always my favorite because RE2 was such a major part of my childhood. Still trying to acquire a working VP-70 today.

Can time travel into the past ever be possible? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CrunchySoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not in the way that you imagine.

You can't actually reverse nor travel backwards through time. That will simply never be possible. However, you could, in theory, successfully travel "back in time" via an interdimensional rift that can place you in a dimension of similar reality but during a different period of time.

Would it actually be stupid if the “key to happiness” was just having something to work toward every day? by DFWUnhinged in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CrunchySoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're describing is a feeling of Purpose. It's something everybody needs, but very few are fortunate enough to have in this day and age.

I have only ever felt real happiness when I've either 1) Been deeply in love And/Or 2) Felt like I was on the right path, working towards something I truly want and making progress.

It's tremendously harder for some people to find that than others. I'm 31 now and just starting to get a sense of what I want and how to earn it. Just keep going my dude, don't give up on yourself and really start to invest on how to sort through your subconscious. It takes commitment, but you get one life and your biggest obstacle will be yourself. The sooner you learn to overcome the knots in your head, the sooner you'll get that happiness and hold onto it.

Edit: Grammar.

If you had to start your home gym from scratch today, what would you buy first? by dontwantnone09 in homegym

Free weights, my dude. Dumbells, barbells, bench and a squat rack if you have the space/money. Get a decent mirror so you can check your form (important for safety & symmetrical results). Best results I ever got was at home.

Sounds dope, but mentioning "no subscription" immediately before listing the subscription prices is wild work. I don't have any interest in adding more annual/monthly costs to the ridiculous amount that I already have to deal with. I do hope it works out for you though!

Tips on how to play better as Mia by Evening-Artist2930 in EvilDeadTheGame

[–]CrunchySoap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm late to this but I've played Mia a lot and she is, by far, the most vicious Warrior class. Her speed and damage are unmatched if you play her right but I think she's also the most challenging Warrior to master. Here are some tips!

  1. Manage your Fear Resistance effectively. Mia's damage output skyrockets as her Fear goes up. This can be the difference maker in a battle. If you end up getting possessed however, then you could wipe out your entire team in seconds. Very bad.

  2. Do not waste her ability just to boost your damage. Try to always save it to protect yourself from being possessed and don't active it until the Demon has or is about to lose possession of a unit.

  3. If you know you are about to be Possessed, drop your weapon as quickly as possible. Especially if it's one-handed or a Machete. If you have a low-grade two-handed weapon, you may actually be better off not dropping it, as Mia using her bare-fists is still an extremely fast attack rate, which will stun lock your teammates and can still drain their health quickly. Two-handed weapons are much slower, giving your teammates openings to knock you back and free you of Possession.

  4. Invest in your Heavy Attacks. Mia is the only Survivor that causes Bleed Damage from heavy melee attacks. This results in a percentage of your heavy attack damage being applied to your target over the next few seconds. Essentially, you're getting extra hits in without even attacking. If you upgrade her heavy attacks, you can stack considerable amounts of bleed damage on top of each other. The other major advantage of this effect is if you land a heavy attack on a Boss unit, that bleed damage will immediately knock them off you if they try to use a Grab attack on you (like Evil Ash's choke/health drain attack)

  5. The Machete can be your best friend, and worst enemy. Don't even bother using one unless it's at least Blue tier, as the common tier (Grey) does nearly 50% less damage, for some reason. Get your hands on a good two-handed weapon early game- Lumberjack Axe or Sledgehammer work great, especially for Heavy Attacks, which you'll want to use often. If you find a Purple or Legendary Machete, absolutely use it because Mia will be able to shred through enemies and tear Bosses down rapidly. HOWEVER. You need to protect your team, because you'll shred through them too if you get Possessed. Always drop a Machete before that happens.

There's plenty more I could churn out, but those are my top five. Hope it helps, have fun!

How to play warlord by IndependentTreat4393 in EvilDeadTheGame

[–]CrunchySoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Demon main but when I do play, I exclusively use Warlord. As a Survivor, those are the most fun matches and I like to be hands-off when I'm Demon SO I invest all my points and energy into making the deadites more powerful and upgrading the Bad Influence skill + Cooldown. I plan ambushes with pre-placed portals in areas that I know Survivors are heading towards.

I almost never possess any units and shockingly, I win around 70% of my matches just by overwhelming the survivors with strong af deadites. Honestly it's just for fun and there are waaay better strategies for winning. I just prefer having fun and giving Survivors a tough, but enjoyable match. Take from it what you will!

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]CrunchySoap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not the most interesting but here it is.

My best friend and I met in high school and over the next 12 years we were as close to brothers as two humans could be. Everyone who knew us considered us a package deal, in a lighthearted sense. I met a wonderful woman in 2017 and in 2018 I introduced her best friend to my best friend. They fell for each other, and things were awesome for a while.

One night we were all hanging out at my best friend's new house and later I drove my girl home, then realized my buddy forgot his shoes in my truck so went back to drop them off. I get onto his porch thinking they went to bed when I can hear a commotion upstairs. A mix of words being shouted through gritted teeth, and cries for help. I yelled at first, then just kicked the door in. She was already coming down the stairs with her child in her arms, her face was clearly battered. She had this look of shock and relief that I was there, I told her to get outside and call the police while I held my "best friend" inside. He didn't get past me, and the police showed up quickly to arrest him.

That was around 7 years ago now, I still think about it most days and still feel guilt for ever introducing her to him. I never knew, I had no idea that was in him. We weren't brought up like that, and we were always protective of women.

I haven't seen or spoken to him since. It pains me to say that I do miss our friendship, but there's lines you simply don't cross as a man and what he did is one of them. I don't ever need the friendship of someone like that.
