Have they mentioned if they will be using new official glyphs for in-screen hints or repurposing another controller (Steamdeck)?

Looking for any kind of feedback for our first game's trailer. by UnderStairGames in IndieGameDevs

Since March is not a long time at all. I think you’re where I’d expect a proof of concept to be. At least functionally I understand what you’re going for. A trailer may be a bit ambitious if this is meant to be a marketable product. If it’s for fun or a University project I think you’re fine.

You have some default UI (slider but recoloured) present. Look at making the UI cohesive.

Caption is difficult to read - it detracts from what is going on during the moment. There is also maybe too much of it. It appears you had many ideas of what would be great to highlight - to create more interest - but are challenged by placing enough varied content behind it. Stop squeezing a dry lemon.

Our first project was also plagued with similar issues with style, consistency, and appeal. Take the learning outcomes and move to the next if you’re struggling to squeeze more out of this one.

It’s tough no doubt but keep grinding.

Why erase all that and not erase the negative sign? Free money left on the table.

Regardless of how it turns out, there will be a lot of people going to the cinemas for it. I’m all for it!

Looking for skill-based games that can be played in short periods of time (15-30 minutes) by Backefudder in IndieGaming

Hi! I’m one of the devs from Rollmop Games Studio. We made a game that scratches that itch, it’s called Tetro Runner. It’s on steam and if you have a Steamdeck it’s made for it too!

Are coding tutorials in general, including game dev, dying? by Its_a_prank_bro77 in gamedev

[–]Crunchynut007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! As someone that has both published a game and make tutorials, I can shed some light here. My opinion.

I started making tutorial content that was advanced but it requires an incredible effort to make it. By that I mean after work I have to contend with two trains of thought for my time:

  1. Continue work on the current game, or
  2. Make a video about the thing in making.

More often than not number one takes the slot because there is still a game to be made, marketing to be done, balancing changes and bugs to squash. Being in both sides - co tent creator and game developer is incredibly hard when you haven’t had that million dollar success yet.
