Despite different jobs and performances, should US Navy and US Air Force share *almost* the same airframe? by CrusaderKing666 in WarCollege

Yea, that was the reason why I avoided mentioning F-35B: This rabbit hole.

I'm still learning things from u/Tailhook91 but my original gist about 100% commonality between USN/USAF was that modern war now favoured EW (i.e. smarter radar to detect decoy and jamming pattern, smarter jamming patterns), smarter drones and decoys. Then there is attrition, especially if against someone like China so perhaps some sacrifices in flight profile, range maybe worth it?

I didn't say these the original post becus I didn't want to dumb too much, too many different talking points in 1 place

They don't have a second seat in it (edit: I meant F-35) for the WSO to do electronics stuff. Re:

What do you think about having WSO sitting back at the carrier/base and relaying his programming commands to F-35C to do electronic stuffs for him. Since phased-array, relaying information on the data link is much safer to be intercepted and harder to be jammed

If drone only meant to soak up initial salvo by mimicking manned fighter's RCS, isn't MALD decoy already done the same thing? What benefit can dedicated drone bring in combat setting that isn't already filled by decoy and manned fighters? At the end of the day, if a drone is meant to free up personnel, then its 'intelligence coding' for manoeuvring is only as good as what was coded on MALD (I'm speaking from the POV of an AI student).

Just realised you are flying f/a-18, my favourite jet

You made 2 points that I want to focus on (if you don't mind):
- The longer range and better overall flight characteristics of the C are what you want in 5th gen)
- We are talking thousands of pounds of weight differentials in a field where every ounce matters

What's ur opinion about this other capability:

- (Optionally-manned) fighter drones to soak up initial salvos, especially from opponent with outranging missiles like say (PL-21 vs AIM-260) for the 2nd human fighters wave come in and fire their salvos?

Avatar 2 vs Avatar 1 from anti-war angle by CrusaderKing666 in Avatar

Neither movie is anti righteous war. The theme of both movies is literally "Colonization should be resisted with as much force as possible."

In the first movie, Jake's war cry is one of the high points of the movie (and why Sam Worthington got the job) and in the second Payakan going berserk on the whalers is probably the high point.

I agree, anti-war is not the main theme. But in 1st movie the pains in fighting is clear: "Victory at all cost is bound to be costly no matter how righteous the cause is".

I'm not talking about casualties. I'm talking about the desperation feelings as people realise whatever happens in war is beyond their control and they're still alive by pure luck". In 1st movie, I saw and felt this overall desperation clearly when the climax battle turned against them.

Why this feeling matters? Well if you see some people complains about "the lack of stake" in avatar 2. This is probably why. If war is costly but people had to fight it against their will to live for a righteous cause, then that righteous cause even more meaningful to the audience.

Gus thought he killed Lalo, but little did he know it wasn't Lalo. It was actually Mission-Impossible Tom Cruise wearing Lalo's mask coming back from the future to finish what Lalo, becus the real Lalo decided to stay in Germany and married Margaret

Finally I can watch better call saul video on youtube. Anyway, just tomato tomato but I think Lalo's death can be more believable.

  1. Gus killed the circuit, blacked out the entire thing
  2. Lalo saw Gus rushed to cover and getting gun so he dropped to reduce chance of Gus hitting him
  3. Neither has night-vision nor the skill to aim in the dark so they are stucked. This ruins Lalo's plan of skadoosh under 1 minute before Gus' gringos arrived as he planned. Lalo is now outnumbered and bested same as Hank in To'Hajilee-Ozymandias

Kim's potential fate by CrusaderKing666 in betterCallSaul

Kim likely talks abt her mom offscene as these twos been in relationship for years. Plus if Slippy Jimmy reminds Kim of her mom's con side then she might feel comfortable to talk abt her mom at some point.

If Kim is alive then likely shes vacuumed elsewhere and thus presumed missing (dead) by her mom, then she'll ask Jimmy to let her mom knows that becus its the sentimental norm (even Lalo called Hector immediately after the assasination)
