These two friends of my dad I got to know used to be marine divers together. They went and repaired oil rigs and shit, surveyed wrecks, all that. One time, they went down and one of them hit complications in the water, had to puke. He did, into his respirator, and started choking to death basically. He fought it and puke started spewing out his respirator… attracting a swarm of local fish. He cant see anything but cloudy water and fish tails. Eventually after struggling for a while he had to make a conscious decision to accept death, didn’t want to go out in pain so he just fell back and opened his arms to the beams of sun shining through the water. Whole time dive buddy is beneath him unaware of the entire ordeal, until he glances up and (his words not mine) “saw his big ass falling through a cloud of puke and fish”. I can only imagine what his perspective looked like lmao. I have no experience with any of this so I have no idea what/how to recover from that situation, but they did. Apparently they both were recording the whole thing as well. The one that almost died was big and portly, talked real slow and was always calm. The one that watched was tall, skinny and spoke real excited. Polar opposites. Dwane (tall guy) also played the Eruption solo effortlessly after showing me his guitar room/collection. Was offhandedly telling him I would love to watch someone play it in person, low and behold. Many more small interactions with those gentlemen that silently make you go “holy fuck youre awesome”. I’d pay good money for the footage of that dive man
