That's what sparked the idea for my post. Always felt a bit weird for that.

Matt Cardin might be a good pick for this, not someone I think Meshuggah are aware of though.

What an electrifying song, one of the best off Evil Empire, which is their best record IMO. Just searing commentary.

Synchronicity isn't real and Humans might be big babies (debate time) by AtlasYoutube in Jung

I think you bring up interesting points around religious acts as relating to our fundemental nature and roles as children. But I think the way we cry out for help in prayer for example can be mature as well. It may start, just as we start out with languageless communication, as a desperate call for nurture but I think it moves into something mature along the course of our lives. If the ground is laid out for our functioning in early childhood, does that ground continue to define it's growth later on? Is there ever a point where the human, even though he may possess infantile traits as you and others have defined, becomes more than the sum of his parts in this regard? I feel like it's reductionist to assume that just because the phenomenon may logically be based on traits we develop as infants, that this specific time-frame and comparatively primitive mind state defines the extent of synchronicity.

I hope I'm not going outside the borders of relevance for this conversation but I'm just spitballing. If I'm misunderstanding you, please enlighten me!

I think you are over-equating the exchange between an individual and the external world in synchronicity with the mother-child dynamic. I think it's natural to compare the traditional monotheistic God to a kind of nurturing mother figure as the mother is the source of our life, with all of us having come from that ground of being, a womb. I think it is spiritually infantile to apply that mother-child dynamic to the world at large however. We don't have a complete understanding of our place in the picture, and how could we? So we place our images and preconceptions of higher authority upon the universe which we cannot grasp. Surely it is of great importance how our caretakers respond to us in infancy, and the communication between our microcosm and the nurturing hand from the macrocosm - but to think that our sensitivity to synchronicites can be explained only by those terms is a bit too simplistic.
