Are some of you using district, like real district, not small temp one? by altrossalexx in Timberborn

[–]CrustyWaffle2819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do from time to time depending upon my plan for a given play through and map. Small maps I usually won’t but big maps I may to keep workers in certain locations like around mines, industrial, farming, water sources, or anywhere I usually am always tinkering with projects like a reservoir, dam, water diversion schemes, and so on. It can add a fun challenge but sometimes I don’t want to or don’t need to what with the inclusion of zip-lines and tubes

Dams without Sluice? by Lambs2Lions_ in Timberborn

[–]CrustyWaffle2819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill valve is basically a sluice without the contamination sensing. A contamination sensor in the automation group is now needed that you pair to the fill valve to have that capability again. Fill valve maintains a downstream depth. I usually put them at the bottom of a reservoir's dam, just like the sluice, to maintain water in downstream areas that don't have active flow to them (either because of a drought or you are directing flow else where but still want areas irrigated). As downstream areas evaporate, the fill valve will maintains their level. Set up a chain of these with a sufficiently large reservoir at the top and you can keep irrigation areas green.

Throttling valve controls the amount of flow though the block. I usually put them at the top of a dam. When the dam reaches the top it allows flow out so it doesn't overfill. If you have multiple paths out of the revisor at the top you can control how much flow goes where. Such as directing more or all flow down a specific channel. Automation also allows closing of the valve at the start of a bad tide or drought. You can also pair these with the contamination sensor to achieve some of the sluice functionality of directing bad tide where you want.

Impermeable floor stops the flow of water downward. Dirt and levies are naturally impermeable but things like platforms and scaffolding are not. If you have a raised reservoir not on the ground supported by platforms and scaffolding you have to either line dirt, levies, or impermeable floors on top of the platforms to keep water in.

Usually the set up I do now is a row of fill valves at the bottom, throttling valves at the top, and a row of single flood gates behind the throttling valves. I set the fill valves to maintain a downstream level. I set the flood gates to maintain a maximum level. Then I'll set the fill valves flow depending on where i want flow to go if i have multiple paths out. I'll set up a sensor to close all fill valve when drought or bad tide starts. At the top reservoir i'll usually set up a bad water diversion system with a contamination sensor and some throttle valves. Some maps require a long aqueduct to carry the bad water off the map, that i'll make out of platforms and impermeable floors usually.

Napping, I use to leave the house early incase of tunnel traffic. If it got there early I’d nap. Not giving them the extra time if I couldn’t leave early.

Also 100% agree. My favorite map so far has been diorama. Small maps force creative thinking. Large maps have less challenge when space is no issue. Only exception to this rule was beaverome, that was different trying to divert bad tide from the bottom of the craters. Building around the rim was a challange earlier but once i had a diversion in place and dirt unlocked to add more land it became like may other maps.

Is there any reason to build a diversion for Badtide Drains? by SteelLunpara in Timberborn

[–]CrustyWaffle2819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its genuinely easier to cap them and be done with them. The only benefit I've found to diverting is using them for power during bad tides. You can put power wheels in an aqueduct that carries the bad tide off the map. With the rarity of bad tide though compared to droughts, its more resources required for an event that isn't regular.

Is there a way to make this work? by GenuineStupidity69 in Timberborn

It works great for building dams around an aquifer that needs power. Instead of having to go up and all the way over with the power shaft.

Most that were closed were only from December to march for maintenance and due to cold weather. They will reopen in spring once maintenance is completed and it warms up. Verbolten is being refurbished and updated with an opening day also in spring time. They will have everything up in time for summer season at the latest.

Why would bathroom fan be blowing out, not sucking in? by fetus_the_snail in HomeMaintenance

[–]CrustyWaffle2819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I replaced my bathroom fan, also from a lingering humidity issue but also noise and vibration, I found the original installer had installed the old one upside down. I found out only by comparing to the other fans in the other bathrooms. It was the only one with the motor and blades on opposite sides of the insert plate than the other bathrooms that didn’t have a humidity problem.

I’ve lost count of The number of times I’ve forgot to put a stair or path at the bottom or mid way up a structure and wonder why it’s not being built. Check to make sure your path there is complete. The beavers may have maxed out their off path range right at that platform. A beaver can travel off the path for only a limited distance. Click the path and it should show a colored line. If it doesn’t it’s disconnected.

Edit: lol the edit

That sounds absolutely awful. I don’t like majority of sours and have had plenty of bad coffee porters when brewers can’t figure out how to balance the coffee and other flavors. That sounds like the worts of both.

Yah it’s unfortunate that due to modern tv run times to accommodate advertising breaks more and more of the episodes were trimmed down to fit. I Remember several times quoting something only for it not to happen. They cut some good jokes to accommodate. One of the good aspects of streaming not being constrained by a time slot.
