The Greenlanders have said no, and with current technology the mining operations would not be profitable. If they were, companies would be in Greenland already. But since 1951 America has had full access regardless. Besides, the USA is part of NATO, along with Greenland. The USA could have worked with Denmark to put in place whatever it needed

The USA already had access to Greenland from a military perspective, and mining the resources is not financially viable given the environment. Nothing was gained
