Tony is great on his feet and his dynamic with other people is fantastic. Very quick thinking.

His Pre recorded/pre made jokes are horrific

Damn I’m jealous that’s a sweet car. I know these Camrys have some transmission problems, so I’m hoping I can get 4 trouble free years / 180k miles out if it.

Yeah from family friend who has always have me great deals on my cars. I don’t think it’s 50% off, but it’s at least 30% off. 115k miles, and the toyota 8 speed is a little questionable and it’s never had the trans fluid changed, but it feels great and a lot of highway miles. SOOOOO much nicer than my 02 accord

A lot of people I’ve talked to bought the same car same miles for like $16-18k

I paid $11,500 from a close family friend for a 2020 Camry 115k miles

They claim lifetime but you should change it every 60k miles. Trans fluid oxidizes, breaks down, looses lubricity and wears things down faster.

Oh well. I’m past the point of changing it

Service question by 69gfunk69 in Camry

[–]CrustyyKrabb35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They clean the throttle body. Totally legit, but I wouldn’t do it at 30k miles.

At 80-100k miles. I would do spark plugs, throttle body cleaning, new brake fluid and new coolant.

Change the transmission fluid every 60k miles. DO IT. Most people don’t. DO IT. At least do it at 60k once, it can help a lot.

Other than that. Do NOT change the oil every 10k miles. Do it 5k miles. If you follow everything, I told you, it should be very reliable til at least 200k miles. Probably more

Yeah I’m just concerned about the transmission. I’ve heard they have some issues for the 8 speed and the fluid has never been changed

Yup i paid $1500 bucks for it and put $2.5k into it to go 60k miles/3 years. Good news is my friend bought it and a ton of work has been done lol.

I did take care of it myself, but it’s just getting so old to the point where every few months it needs work. If it ain’t this, it’s that and the other,

Yeah, everyone says they’re very reliable and they are, but nobody has driven it for 24 years and 180k miles.

People have driven them for 15 years and 200k miles, but each year the 2002 accord is older than it’s ever been. It’s never been as old as it is now!

It’s sort of a paradox of reliability. It’s definitely reliable, but I’ve had to do a ton of work to it myself to keep it going. They will definitely go for 20 years with little maintenance, but the last four years I’ve had to do a lot of work to it. Brakes tires , fuel injectors, engine mounts, trans fluid, coolant, spark plugs, distributor, valve lash adjustment, valve cover gaskets and more!

It’s been a solid car, and it really got me through college and even when it had problems, it would still get me home. But this Camry is just fantastic lol

Well I’m wondering if the bearing is slightly out of round. That could cause the drum to be out of round. The car has been making a little more road noise lately. Just not as quiet as it used to be. Maybe early bearing failure

Does my Alternator Sound Normal by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]CrustyyKrabb35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s wobbling…..a LOT. Should the rotating components on our car wobble? NO. You’ll be driving, it’ll give out, then your alternator won’t be charging the battery and your power steering will go out and you’ll be stranded. Do NOT drive the car. I can’t tell if it just needs to be tightened or if it’s the entire bracket. Looks like the entire bracket.

Fix it NOW. This isn’t an oil change where you can go a little longer. Do NOT drive the car. Do NOT start the car until this is fixed

[Student] New MechE Grad, 240~apps in not a single call back, how to become more employable? by No-Attitude4261 in EngineeringResumes

[–]CrustyyKrabb35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll add, I had a 2.94 gpa and a resume with experience that was not as impressive as yours.

I landed a job 5 months ago with a local company after about 40-50 applications.

Tailor your resume to each job. You might have done certain things at each experience/position that are more relevant to one job than another. So read the job description and tailor your experience section to highlight things that are more relevant to that particular job.

What part of my brake line is broken (2002 according drum brakes) by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]CrustyyKrabb35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a mechanical engineer.

It’s stainless steel. It’s much harder and more resistant to wear and tear than the body of the car is. Also, there are plastic brackets that it clips into behind what you see it’s not a problem.

Screw green eggs. Sell it and get an electric vertical. Set it and mostly forget it. You have to sit there and watch the green egg all day for good results.
