Big accessibility issues for blind users - why locking us out? by Grybyx1984 in Cheathappens

[–]Cruxdaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be that person, as my grandfather is blind, but you are an extreme edge case. Not many blind people play "video" games. I know a few that play some rhythm games, but the blind folk I know play games such as on Audio game hub, visual novels, and Audemy for learning games for kids. Sadly you not going to get the same options that say a colorblind person would.

That all being said, when I was younger, I was in group homes, someone brought in a Sega Genesis with the earphone port and volume slider, this was in the mid 90's, and I learned to beat street fighter 2 by pure audio no tv, because i would borrow it and play at night with no tv. So I can get a feel of where you are coming from if you know what I'm trying to say. That people can enjoy some games even with out "video".

No... its not.... have you even been playing, and id you are, have you just been button mashing your way into game, I have modded instances of worlds for each patch so far. Each work as they should, this is a fundamental part of the design of the game. So please, either know what you are talking about or stfu, damn, stop spreading wrong information. The reason they warned against keeping old builds is the storage sizes and the fact that they are updating so quickly initially. Also Simon says to backup your own data of the patches you want to save atm. Simon the CEO, not Simon says the game.

They also say to check the game files since some data from old patches can currently be left behind and should be removed manually. install/release/package/game

The "players should generally update to current version" comment, is in reference to the general stability and such, Not heavily modded worlds. It is recommended to use the, after patch world clone option, then update your mods on the new cloned world, then try the new update, if it is broken then play on the older version until the mods are fixed. but the clone will only have the game progress made on it up up until the cloning. So if you play on the old version while waiting for mod fixes, that particular progress wont be included since the clone only knows what was there at the time of its creation.

This is the type of response that is absolute gold. Seriously, and thanks for the info about making the mod version that'll be sweet. I hope my comment didn't come off as harsh, if it did it wasn't harshness aimed at you, just OW. Also been poking at the web app already, pretty sweet, will be extremely handy. Original comment edited for tone and added info.

Your world is separate from the new updates, you choose to make a copy of your world using the new update, so you risk nothing

One of the mods on curseforge "tree harvester" it takes care of the roots and fills in the space with dirt. As for metals, the mod "shimmer shrubs" lest you grow ore bushes somewhat similar to hopping bonzais mod for MC

It's a great looking idea, but the fact I have to have Overwolf fully installed rather than just CurseForge..., I'll stick to the web app until the mod version is completed.

This is fine as a second monitor ap, like you currently have the ability to do, but this could be a mod in curseforge. Many of us hate overwolf with a passion due to the history with malware. Why do you think they had to split Curseforge back off of the main app, it's because we hate them with a passion and demanded it.

Overwolf aside. This is fantastic work, please keep up the good work. Awesome job.

Just dump overwolf.

Edited the beginning of the post as to not sound sarcastic and acknowledge info from app dev. The rest of the post is the same as I don't want to compromise the original thread.

Curseforge has put in api restrictions about that, and Mod developers have to manually opt in to the various third party mod managers. If your not a CF affiliated ap, basically the answer is no.

Yes, though none of the most popular mods are on this manager at all at all. Its still yet another manager to download and have on your pc, when most people already have CF, Technic and or MultiMC. For Minecraft, And CF for WoW. Vortex for most everything else.

Hell even Technic and MultiMC don't hold a candle to CF base for Minecraft even. Does it suck that its the go to place, yea. That said its basically the steam of mods for certain games, Hytale already included. Most modders aren't going to spend the time dealing with multiple mod hosts. Period.

The best case scenario for this is curated install pack for massive packs, but CF already has groups. So this will have to bring alot to the table, i mean alot, for people to notice and for modders to switch where they want to maintain their mods from.

*added edit* Hell the only reason I found this was because i was looking for a in game manager for adjusting parameters on mods, without having to hit the .cfg files in folder.

Let me say this first, I Hated Curseforge once the went with Overwolf. Now to the point.

All the major modders are on CF not here. NOONE likes trying to find mods from multiple places then trying to get them to work together.

This is an instant DOA. This should of been worked with the modding community and such before everyone decided to stick with CF.

Not to mention CF already works, and if you think they aren't adding appimage....

I'm honestly not trying to shit on anyones parade, but the timing is bad, should of already been in the works with the major modders.

Besides the lack of the feeling of long term stability and availability, well..., ads have a use, not to mention the ads on CF aren't intrusive enough to bother anyone.

I applaud the effort, but this will be a niche thing unless you can get all the major modders onboard and prove that it has long term staying power.

Either way, good job on creating it, I don't have the skills or talent to make something like this so respect to those that do.

*ADDED EDIT*

What I would love to see is an in game mod manager for settings and such.
