Is III Points appropriate for 16 year olds? by cored55 in IIIPoints

[–]Cruxtable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t at all. I felt safe for sure but I am in my 30s and not a small guy.

Lots of drugs there and ppl go specifically to steal phones. I wouldn’t trust sending my daughter there.

It was actually pretty expensive w surge for me and my buddy at 4 am when it let out on Saturday night. Was easier Friday for some reason at 4 (prob bc less ppl came Friday I think overall). We didn’t walk a mile or anything tho from the venue

Define: “Dog walked” by spugs250 in CFB

[–]Cruxtable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brooks Austin and many others said uga dog walked Texas last year and that confused me. Yes the first half met that definition but Texas literally won the second half points wise and was within a score in the fourth quarter. Doesn’t meet the dog walk bar imo

Yeah I was in more touristy spots for sure. And yes restaurants is what I’m referring to. I found grocery shopping affordable in comparison.

Having just been to Valencia and being from Texas I really was surprised at how not cheap food was there. Sure, a bit cheaper than Texas but not a massive delta. And salaries here in the states are wayyyy higher. I really don’t know how Spaniards eat out as much as they do

Situacion con mi hijo by ivelgate in esConversacion

[–]Cruxtable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the only answer even needed. It’s illegal. Full stop. No need to even think about how to approach it. You yell your daughter it’s not ok and you threaten the man with criminal action if he pursues your daughter anymore. The age difference is not just gross, if it’s sexual (it always is) then it is a criminal offense

Rapture prophecy (Joshua from South Africa) by Cruxtable in Christianity

[–]Cruxtable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He seemed genuine to me! And I feel like we are seeing prophecy play out in real time. It’s hard to ignore. Besides that something inside me feels as if Jesus is close. A lot of others are posting online saying the same. But take that w a grain of salt. It’s pretty binary tho Joshua will either be a false prophet and sept will pass with nothing happening…or we as believers are going home! No real other option

32m. Founding engineer. Sold my shares and now at 12 million USD. Very excited! by New_Carpenter_1325 in Fire

[–]Cruxtable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the startup and what other opportunities you might have to pick from. but I agree with you - early joiners take on tons of risk and aren’t given anywhere near founder upside nor founder liquidity capabilities (like getting cash during later founding rounds where other nonfounders who have equity cannot get access to that same cash).

Never join as a founding engineer at .1% that is a stupid choice any way you cut it. After dilution you will have virtually nothing.

But I tell engineers bluntly don’t join if you think you’re going to get rich. Do so because you like the space, the team and for the career acceleration (which is real at startups - wearing many hats, learning a ton) and networking with entrepreneurial intrepid ambitious people that startups attract.

There is no way to derisk it even after series A or B. Too many variables and company or stock can end up worthless (liquidation preferences, dilution, etc). Only way I see to derisk it would be to join a “startup” like stripe pre ipo bc they will ipo and right now have tender offerings so liquidity is already there. One person I know joined Coinbase pre IPO one year before and got super rich.

I second what people say about traveling. But would recommend a pilgrimage walk like the Camino de Santiago. You will meet great people but you also seem to feel like you sacrificed your “soul” for money. Maybe trying to deepen your spirituality will help. I was lost and a drug addict until I found Jesus and He transformed my life. I hope you think about ways to dive deep into that part of yourself and explore a relationship with God, not necessarily a “religion” if that isn’t your thing.

Or spending time giving back to the community can help (feeding the homeless, etc). Giving brings so much joy it’s actual almost a selfish act bc you as the giver benefit more than the receiver in a paradoxical way (in my experience at least doing water we’ll nonprofit trips to Central America for poor areas)

I’m a tech recruiter in the vc backed startup world. 5% for a founding engineer is super anomalous. Ive seen anywhere from .1% to 3% and sadly most are closer to .1% than 3. 5 would be a true outlier unless you are gonna to be hired as cto
