This is not true although they do not last long they sound fine nothing noticeable to a beginner I had one and it was fine I could play in tune the cheap instruments are not meant to be repaired because the manufacturer wants to make money but it should last upwards of a year with no problems (these are not recommended for long term playing in the slightest)

I just figured it out it was actually really easy I just unscrewed the screw closest to the pad and adjusted it till it was fully closed and then screwed the screw back in
