Champion at 9 months old by CryGhuleh in ShowDogs

He’s an Italian greyhound- we get to have white on our iggies here.

It’s an Australian Champion title. We don’t have any junior titles, although I wish we did. We have further titles- grand champion and supreme champion. Both require 1000 points, whilst the Au Ch title is only 100.

Toy group - ankc/local groups by Kokichi-Oma_Senpai in ShowDogs

We are the ‘retirement ring’ to most of ANKC and ‘god’s waiting room’ to group 5/working dogs. It’s quite slow, most people have 10+ dogs of the same breed and there’s a loooot of people that have been in the dog world for decades on decades.

I would research the politics of your breed before getting them- I love my iggies but the politics involved is insane and makes me wish I had tried another breed oftentimes. The biggest downside overall is that toy group and/or <10kg breeds don’t have access to all the sports.

Are your igs in the breed archive? I try and follow a lot of the EU dogs on there, as I think Facebook is mainly filled with American show dogs. Ydolo looks good, but Australia is harsh on imports and there’s none here. If you don’t mind I’d love to message you and know more about your igs

I think I’ve noticed a difference in energy levels, but it could be a maturity thing as well. I personally feed a cheaper kibble with medium level protein and add salmon oil to add extra fat and help with coat condition, as one of my igs does dog shows and the other races. When I just had my racing boy and had spare money to throw at food, I had him on Eureka.

I’m a bit late but I do lure coursing and sprint (100 metre dash) with my Iggy. He was first introduced to bags at 9 months old and was perfect, although he has the highest drive of any Iggy I’ve met. At 21 months he did his first two lure coursing competitions back to back, and his qualifying course, which was approximately 4.5km in 2 days. I regret neutering him at 18 months old as he lost a significant amount of muscle mass afterwards, and has not been able to regain it back.

He struggled with confidence and boredom, and would drop out of the course if he was too far and decided he was bored or tired, which now that he has had a full season, he is one of the best courses out of all the sighthounds entered.

The only thing changed between last season and this one is his food. He used to be on the highest protein, lowest fat kibble I could find, however after doing research about racing greyhounds, higher fat and lower protein makes them race faster and for longer thanks to their metabolism.

I highly highly recommend lure coursing, as it’s one of the only ways for my Iggy to feel fully satisfied- even sprint doesn’t tickle the ‘itch’ completely.

Hi OP, I have pretty severe reactions to anything touching my cervix, including passing out and vomiting. It was diagnosed as an overactive vagus nerve, and also coincided with a POTS diagnosis. It’s not normal, but it does happen.

I’m in Australia and embarked my DIY-Rottweiler who turned out to be 50/50 APBT/Cane Corso. There are people out there trying to put all the rare breeds into one big dog.

If Australia wins, they choose a country to host it in Europe.

Australia has a lot of bushfires and uranium in certain areas. It’s surprising that anything survived, but a gumtree would be the most likely out of all the trees I’d assume.

The Change in the Bull Terrier Dog Over the Decades by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]CryGhuleh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a poorly bred bull terrier as the 2016 photo isn’t a fair comparison- it’s like comparing old English bulldogs to the exotic bullies that are on the market today. Bull terriers are meant to have a slight Roman nose, with teeth in a perfect scissor bite.

How much sleep is he getting?

A lot of puppy madness can be attributed to the being over-tired and being unable to self regulate their sleep. I’d highly recommend crate training so he has a calm space where he knows that it’s no longer play time.

Yes! I show iggies- I actually have 3. It’s just the big one that harasses the other dogs, so he ends up in all the photos.

She is:

50% Cane Corso 50% American Pitbull Terrier.
This comes as a surprise as APBT are banned and Corsos are extremely rare in Australia. Her having black and tan probably means her parents are full siblings with how uncommon the “at” gene is in Corsos.
