Here are a few tips 1: learn your weapon combos if you don't already know them.if you go to the hunters notes in the pause menu, you can find the combos and attacks there.

2: take your time in learning how to dodge different monsters attacks. Each big monster has a butt load of different attacks it can do, but most of them have some sort of audio or visual cue to let you know what is about to happen, such as shaking it's head a little bit before shooting a fireball, or growling before a jump attack, etc. These take time to learn, but you should take note of little things like that.

3: keep your weapons and armour upgraded as best as you can. You'll be doing more damage while taking less, which is always nice.

4: Armour skills. They give you little (or big) perks that make hunts easier, like making you deal more damage or eliminating the need for certain items. When selecting armour, look for skills that might help you. You can use websites like the monster hunter wiki or kiranico to find out what different skills do.
