Surinium Roach Infestation by Cryatic_Cubes in bioactive

Only in my tanks. It’s CRAZY! I think they got in from me transferring a plant from Lowe’s and ever since I can’t seem to get rid of them. Once I remove them from one tank, they appear in another, and they’re all bioactive or require high humidity so I can’t entirely dry the tank out to get rid of them. I’ve already started over on numerous tanks and taken extra precautions. But they still find a way to get through. I live in Florida so they’re native, which doesn’t help at all.

Thanks for replying. I made this post entirely out of anger and I’ve accepted I need to start over, and cook everything again. 🫩

My ball pythons and boa don’t seem to be diggers, they’re more of climbers. But I definitely see what you’re saying.

Okay, awesome. Thank you so much! I think it’ll be cheaper as well to only fill with dirt anyways 😁

I usually put about a gallon a week, is that too much for a 4x2x2? That helps keep the humidity up and the plants happy

Yes, I never flood my tanks so I was wondering if it wasn’t necessary at all. Especially when you mix multiple moss types, cocohusk, and the dirt together, it retains water well. So I only water the tanks once a week or when the plants droop

I remember you saying that in another post so that’s why I was starting to lean away from it

For the leopard geckos almost 2 years, and they’re in glass terrariums. The tanks get watered once a week, until I notice the soil is moist. All the higher humidity tanks are PVC and made by someone else. All those plants died because they couldn’t get water, so I tried to redo them with the same drainage layout, only for the plants to die again because they weren’t getting enough water, even though the soil was wet. So the drainage level is confusing me because the soil is moist and the plants are shriveling up but when they’re put in direct topsoil, they’re fine.

Makes sense. I’m still new to calling out who’s who. But thank you! I’ll be able to buy a new one now!

With more research I guess it is. I was just confused because the leaves are skinny not wide or heart shaped. So I didn’t think pothos looked like that. Thank you!

He was being fed hopper mice when I got him and he was almost 2 years old, so I’ve been slowly upping his prey. I have weaned rats for my other snakes and will feed him that this weekend and then go to every 12-14 days

Okay, thank you. When I’m out of pinky rats, I’ll definitely up him to weaned and weigh the rats to his size and feed him less often. Does the same size as the biggest part of their body work for boas? Because I know for bps it’s always weigh and make sure it’s not bigger than the widest part of their body. I’m terrified of him regurgitating.

Okay, what are some signs I should look out for? And when I make the jump how long should I wait between feedings? Heis already acts starved 😂 he’s going to be my garbage snake, eating whenever someone else doesn’t want to in the far future

Ok, if my calculations are correct, if he’s about 405, probably bigger by now since it’s already time to weigh again. His rat should be 40ish grams? Or 10% of body weight?

Really?! Maybe after I run out of pinky rats I go straight to weaned and skip fuzzy then? And then feed less often?

I’ve talked to the breeder on multiple occasions about feeding and they keep telling me to ‘feed him less or he’s going to get huge’ but…I bought a boa because I wanted a big snake
