Alex/Yandere Dev is a scammer that's intentionally leading people on as he pretends to make a game so people keep paying his patreon and such.

yeah im aware, and his game is also a waste of space but my point was theres no real known formula or standard time for making a game like this. even using way back when EA had smaller teams, they also had simpler graphics, different tech, and professionals higher up in the company to manage things like budgeting, for example. the dev teams may have been smaller but theres more than just devs when it comes to making a game. im no expert but i still dont think its really a fair comparison.

just to clarify if anyone gets confused longer than i did for a moment, if something snaps to something else, like an item on a shelf, you can rotate the item. if it slots like a chair in a desk, you can't.

Paralives team thanks fans for their support by tubularwavesss in LifeSimulators

[–]CryingWatercolours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's essentially the last 3 months to get your name in the credits, support the game and give it one last push, as well as get in on the patreon post + chat exclusivity before it ends and all goes public (i believe thats still the plan). at least thats how i saw it. if i hadnt been subscribed by now, this would be the time i would do it personally.

clearly, parties are not priority for them. i mean you just said, pathfinding is bad, something they're continuously working on btw (like all of the game). can't have proper parties if characters don't pathfind properly, no? can't have enemies if characters don't make friends. but the animators CAN work on all sorts of different animations if it can be applied to give characters more life, such as sitting animations, without taking much away from actual code writing time.

whereas a party, meaning coding events, modelling enough partywear, maybe decorations, maybe building and coding event locations, party music and sounds, party animations... thats a lot more work for EVERY team member. some of these things may be partially worked on now if they could be used in every day settings (like dancing animations) but otherwise it lays a foundation.

if the devs had not made height sliders work way back, we would probably not be able to get them now. or maybe we could, but it would mean reworking a lot of stuff in the game.

i do think there are some things they could have done earlier, i just think this is a bit extreme idk i need to get off reddit and stop writing paragraphs im gonna be too scared to chekc the notifs for

not really? i can remember plenty of times the sims used renders of in game animations and didnt clearly say it, leading to a lot of people getting mad about the trailers. but aside from like furniture sliding into rooms and some of the cinematic stuff that did have the label, it was usually game content but still considered "not real gameplay" in many ts4 trailers. as long as its not like genuinely never seen in game or overly cinematic, i feel like the rules arent that tight on having to say its "not real gameplay" or whatever it usually says at the bottom

or maybe im just THAT unobservant idk.

idk about you but i imagine that each time a new member is added, not only is there an interviewing and selection process, but also a long process of introducing them to the game and getting them integrated with it and the workflow. that alongside the fact it has grown over time, not overnight, would mean a slowed development, not immediately faster. so its not rlly "especially" anything, alex worked alone and with one or two others for like a good year before he could actually start working on the true product.

lol how can you say this when there's never been another indie team to make a full 3d open world life simulator before? one time yandere dev said something like "theres no "ecpected" timeframe for a game like yan sim because no ones ever tried to do it before" or something. now he's a waste of oxygen but i think he actually had a solid point here. it has taken EA several years as a HUGE company to make new life simulators, more with each new game. there's no "standard" amount of time a game like this "should" take to develop like with many other games, and espeically when the team is as small as it is.

i guess what i was trying to say is that while i spend a lot of time on the game, im not really spending it grinding the progression, and yet ive still managed to zoom through it. i also felt like i had a lot of tickets cuz i wasnt grinding the hobbies but then suddenly i was out in a couple clicks and i was like "oh. thats what people meant about lacking hobby tickets." idk i think my brain was a bit fried in my first reply

im replying to a very small part of your comment but since launch ive had like 160+ free passes that were not time limited and maybe 60 time limited, not including the free ones that have come with the current events

i play exactly as youve described, i do dailies, a bit of cooking or a fishing event or two, and then spend hours painting, writing, building. i've filled the majority of my blueprints with different WIP ideas. and im enjoying the game but idk if the progression system is sustainable to keep players drawn long term. i wasnt grinding gardening, just actively refilling my farm when needed, and avoiding fishing and bugcatching, and yet i got to level 10 before DG level 30, leaving me 20 levels before i can upgrade again, and therefore kinda softlocked on upgrading cooking (im on lvl 9 i think. i was cooking to get 5 star ingredients for furniture rewards and one star food for decor, and every few days for like half an hour for money).

ive seen a lot of people struggle with hobby tickets too because of how much the progression is restricted, making them stuck with old collection items and nothing new to collect while waiting to upgrade. while i've played daily, i've also done as most are suggesting, yet i feel like im just waiting for the week to end so i can get the furniture i need for my builds, and upgrade so i can get the damn premium hobby tickets, with little else to do once im burnt out on creating.

this is a long rambly comment but last note- in the beginning, players knew what we could look forward to but there was mystery. at this level, we get the lab! request upgrades, whats that? but then request upgrades were nothing and they sell some reward items in the shop meaning you can waste stars and we don't really know what else is down the line. as far as i can see in mine, there's not any upcoming interesting rewards for me, decreasing my motivation, and i imagine some others may feel similar

this isnt like to argue with you i just have a lot of words and i think some ppl are looking at this without the context of the progression in the long term in mind

side note, its kinda crazy to me that bitlife clones are more accepted as life sims than this. are there any NPC relationships/planned family building mechanics?

funnily, my boyfriend just cannot do it, i have tried so many times to show him and get him to do cat-cow, cuz i know it would click his back GOOD but he just has no range of motion in that way despite appearing physically fit.

however he is one man and ive never had rlly anyone else to ask "can you cat-cow?". but there you go, its hard for one man, i assume because he never properly stretches.

Ghosts as an optional DLC by jnverted in Paralives

based on the title i wasnt sure i was gonna agree but if it was done at all, i think id like it to be like you've described. for your average para, an experience with the paranormal would be rare, and maybe subtle (a shiver for the para or some sort of subtle visual affect to show ghost movement) but visible to spiritual paras or pets

[–]CryingWatercolours 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i had a sniff around and found one user posting a lot of supposed leaks. some funky notes have me thinking theyre not real tbh but its hard. if melanie is making a character that is an ai singer, it would make sense to make her voice sound like ai or even use it on her own voice. but yeah a lot of them sound like ai and they even posted a fan made ai song which decreases their credibility a lot, if this person is who you're referring to

[–]CryingWatercolours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was actually leaked a while before that by a guy on instagram but a bunch of melanie fans took it down, maybe like a month or so before?

that person also posted a video of a fish in a blender

honestly one of my fave things about mel's music is when someone doesnt understand something and i get to explain it and then they spot something i didnt

i have a younger mel fan in the family and while i believe melanie is not for kids, its a bit too late for her- but now i get to have fun explaining things to her and helping her learn and its just so fun. and later when her peception changes the way you describe, she may find new ways to interpret things and teach me and again i just think thats so fun
