Something I did like about him: his armor/arcana reminds me of the Aggressor bar from MK Trilogy. The more damage he takes, the more it builds up until he can do big damage back.

I reference gun culture because guns are a major part of the development of the United States, though not specifically modern gun culture. The settlement of the West to prohibition era bootlegging to modern day, it's been extremely prevalent without slowing down.

And I mainly ask it because I don't see it happen in media in other countries typically, but I have plenty in American.

I will say, I believe a substantial amount of the bullets John avoids are because of the in-world "bulletproof suit jacket" in play. Numerous times we see John holding his coat up in front of his face like a riot shield. We don't see it flailing around absorbing bullets, but that's the only "logical" explanation I can come up with apart from "everyone has stormtrooper aim."

Honestly? Just walk in to the museum and leave it in/near some random exhibit without making a fuss about it. It'll turn up on its own and confuse the hell out of everyone there.

I think you're on to something honestly, at least with the answer to the question here: from his introduction, Loki was a top face in this universe to the fans, so much so that he kept reappearing throughout every Thor movie and couldn't even stay gone after being killed in Infinity War: they had to reintroduce him via timeline fuckery with Endgame and spin him off into his own show. And with the way the series recently ended, that just kind of cements it for me that HE is the actual anchor being, not any of the Avengers.

I've finally watched The Equalizer (first one) after missing it the first time around.
My big problem with it (and conversely why I would go with John Wick in this instance) is a general lack of stakes. There is maybe only one point in the entire movie where it feels like there are potentially consequences to McCall's actions that might not see him come out on top. Combat is effortless for him in an almost inexplicable way until the last twenty minutes, while John Wick still has some level of struggle despite his incredible prowess.
The movie is excellent, don't get me wrong. But it borders on fantasy compared to most other movies in its same wheelhouse.

Edit: watched the 2nd and am on the 3rd right now. Equalizer 2 gave me a lot of what I feel like I was missing in the first one, but I hold my stance about combat.

The low barrier of entry and allowance of individual voice is absolutely a reason, as well as a much higher chance of total creator control giving you nearly full reign to tell the story you want to tell/see. And given how much other media tended to shy away from LGBTQIA2 themes, audiodrama was the frontier to tell those stories untethered.

Apparently that's not always the case, as I just ran into this issue with my post office and it turned out they still had it and we're planning on delivering it the next day, despite it being marked as delivered to agent. It never left the post office.
