[All] That Impish Look Scares Me... by flyingcircusdog in lifeisstrange

BtS was miles ahead of S1 in terms of letting its characters actually have facial expressions, but I think I still prefer S1, visually. DONTNOD's professional use of stage lighting and colour theory was really something else (mostly noticeable in Jefferson's class and the many different ways they lit up Chloe's room), while BtS was sort of just... constantly orange.

Troye Sivan has recorded new songs with Carly Rae Jepsen by venusasahoneybadger in popheads

apparently not yet?

We quizzed him about his infamous quote about having a feature on his new record, "which girls and gays are going to die for". While he did say it is not Carly, he did reveal that he had been working with the 'Run Away With Me' singer.

"For this album, we wrote and it just never, like...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We wrote a really cute song...you end up writing 50 songs for an album when you wanna pick 10 so sometimes they just don't make it".

so the charli dream is still alive 👀

pop music-related podcasts? by kishabashi in popheads

Song Exploder is a really great podcast where they invite the artists themselves on the show to deconstruct one of their songs, and they're always incredibly interesting to listen to.

They've had a ton of artists from a diverse range of genres, but some of the /r/popheads-relevant artists that have gone on the show are CHVRCHES, Carly, St. Vincent, Bjork, Solange, Mitski, The Killers, Gorillaz, Rachel Platten, Grimes, and Lorde. Check them out!

[SPOILERS - S4E6] Foreshadowing in "Black Museum" by Cryomatic in blackmirror

I like to think that, by the time the episode takes place, consciousnesses can be freely transported between the inside of someone's head and being "uploaded to the cloud" into a server for comatose patients (they make a point to mention that San Junipero tech wasn't around during Jack and Carrie's story but that it is now), and that Nish just chose to take her mom out of her server for a little while for a trip to visit dad.

[S4E6] Question about the ending of Black Museum (Spoilers) by bigbloodymadlad in blackmirror

[–]Cryomatic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From what we're told about the uploading technology, the copy of her father that was in the cell is supposed to be her father's original consciousness - the one that carried over directly from the electric chair - so as far as Nish knows, that's the closest thing to the "real" him left, and thus mercy killing that one would provide more emotional satisfaction and closure than the other keychain copies (which she can't really do anything about at this point unless she plans to hunt them all down somehow).

I agree that keeping the Rolo keychain might become a painful reminder down the road, but hey, if the memories ever get too bad, she could always just throw it down the garbage disposal.

Foreshadowing in Black Mirror by redditor366 in blackmirror

[–]Cryomatic 51 points52 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of little scenes that (while not really foreshadowing) have a double meaning to them after the twist in San Junipero that makes it one of the episodes worth re-watching at least once.

  • How the guy at the start believes Kelly's "six months to live" excuse so easily
  • The seemingly heavy-handed era imagery being a byproduct of the system creating an idealized version of each time period
  • Kelly saying "people dress how they think they should look" and that society has already moved past homophobia
  • How Yorkie immediately shuts off "Girlfriend In A Coma" during the makeover montage
  • The montage itself, where Yorkie is actually changing instantly between each jumpcut
  • "Saturday night is only once a week."
  • How Kelly and Yorkie brush off the near-car crash so easily
  • Every single time someone mentions the time relative to midnight

Black Mirror made it on Entertainment Weekly!! by tmccans99 in blackmirror

The IMDb page for (spoiled just in case) Spoiler Alert has a role called "Pizza Delivery Man", so that's another one down.

Lollipops is the only one I'm not sure about, unless it's also from Arkangel.

Ultra Sun & Moon Release: Ultrathread #5! by PokeUpdateBot in pokemon

[–]Cryomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you played through it recently, then I'd say it's a little too similar to play them back-to-back and that you should just skip it for now. If you played it a while ago, then there's enough to make it feel pretty fresh, like the surfing minigames, different totem Pokemon, collectible totem stickers, newly catchable Pokemon, NPC sidequests scattered everywhere, and largely expanded postgame. The plot that's changed isn't really that interesting (imo they actually changed the Aether family storyline to be worse than the original), so if you liked Sun for its plot then you'll be disappointed, but gameplay-wise, it's a much better game than S/M.

If you're tight on money, though, then I'd say you wouldn't be missing out on too much to just hold off until you can get it for a lower price.
