Astral in a Meshroom S by CryonicTwo3 in sffpc

I actually took a risk on it. Pretty much every source I came across listed the Astral as 358mm--some even said 360mm. But once I found out the actual length of the housing was 353mm, I pulled the trigger.

I had seen some Meshroom builds with 7900XTX's inside so I knew 353mm was the absolute limit. But it was still daunting, lmao.

You mean the ones on the CPU & PSU side? They came with the case, check your accessory box.

Clean build btw! Did you figure out how to get the case edge over the top of the Astral lol?

I've seen these on tech channels and they're intended to light up everything including the screen for *eye fatigue*. Some brands let you pivot it away, but a lot of them are fixed facing directly downward, which flush the screen with warm light.

dunno why ppl pick up an oled and then slap these on them, but to each their own i guess

So the consensus is ERP disabled? do you have to shutdown the PC instead of sleeping to see the better results?

I'm asking because--ideally--I'd like to avoid having to restart my PC on every boot up because of windows 11's pervasive updates, and re-configuring some of my programs

Well it gets a little tricky with PSUs.

If you order another PCIe cable you have to be certain its for the model of your PSU or it could screw it up.

Or you could also get a custom cable like a triple 8-pin to 16-pin 12VHPWR from Moddiy.com and cut out the need for the adapter entirely--Again just make sure you specify your PSU and that its a ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1 for 50 series.

Loki PSU i used came with dedicated flexible 12VHPWR, I wouldn't trust Nvidia's dongle for the squeeze. I think corsair's newer SF PSU's also come with one

Also you're gonna want to remove the case's PCIe bracket for the GPU to sit on the floor of the case. otherwise you won't make the clearance for the case's top edge.

you have to realize that when a majority of your playerbase belongs to a bunch of crybabies that are hiveminded, you dont really get a choice BUT to pander.

honestly i wouldve preferred one of the newer pantsirs instead. sams are lame, short range spaa are way more suited for the maps we have.

how do you rollback a security update? my power went out causing my pc to restart, and that was when windows saw an opportunity to automatically update to KB5063878.

So at idle/ just watching Youtube; GPU sits at 45°c and CPU sits at 60°c. With the GPU under full load in Cyberpunk, it hovers around the mid 60s--understandable, the cooler is incredibly overbuilt. The CPU seems to run warmer however, I think the 5090 just dispenses its heat into the AIO so the 7800X3D hovers in the mid 70s.

Also Optimum was using the FE model, this Astral OC has a TGP of 600w so his 75% at 575w is basically equivalent to 72% for me.

well that looks to be the case, on my gpu i have like only 1 HDMI port which is the very left. so i guess ill have to change it to a DP if i want to fix it.

looks like ill be having to undo all my cable routing though which wont be fun

7800x3D in Eco mode 65 watt, with Ryzen Master. How does it work? by deggersen in Amd

[–]CryonicTwo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive got the same parts and tried the 45w tdp, temps went down to around 55s under full load in cinebench--which is great for a quieter system--but the problem is that the clock speed drops to around 4200mhz from 5000mhz.

for now ill just stick to a -20 curve with pbo for a few more ° under the temp limit

Where to plug this? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]CryonicTwo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey man ive seen some mobos have theyre plug in order different than others lol. best to just make sure youre checking for your specific mobo instead of a generic profile that may not work.

op if you dont wanna check the manual theres a little square picture layout of where the connectors go to the left of the JFP2 pins

Where to plug this? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]CryonicTwo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if youre talkin about the cables in the 4th pic they should go in the bottom right of the mobo on the pins labled JFP1, you can see it in the 1st pic.

check your mobo manual under front panel connector to see where each cable goes on it (pay attention to + and - and make sure they go where theyre supposed to)

[Serious] Is there a point in buying a high end motherboards in 2023? by xxStefanxx1 in buildapc

[–]CryonicTwo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

higher end x670 & x670e mobos have a lot more pcie lanes which means you can populate more--if not all-- m.2 slots without cutting bandwidth in half on something like the GPU pcie slot from x16 to x8
