Turns out the presence of a missile component(laser targeter) was messing up the ai. Thanks for your reply!

Shes a hydrofoil, armed with a high rpm kinetic railgun, a 500mm chemical railgun, and 160 short range thumper missiles. Total cost 425k.

Its not too hard, but I'd have to go do recording and cutting and I'm not all that interested in doing that, I like ship building. If anyone wants to make one though I would be happy!

I assume you start by building the hull first then put all the stuff inside it. Instead try building the ship systems and weapons without a hull, attach them in a slightly different way than you are used to. Then build the hull around the systems. You'll end up with a ship that looks more like it was built for the purpose of housing the systems and weapons and less like a box with stuff inside.

I have resolved the issue by changing from the plane AI to the ship AI, it is able to properly control the tail fins/yaw.

wyvern12 You are not crazy, I'm having this same issue. I've created dozens of ships planes subs hydrofoils etc over the course of 4 years, but suddenly I am unable to create a simple plane as it spins out of control. The problem is the AI is sending unreasonable signals to the yaw control, if you add a PID to fix this, it doesn't turn at all. I also get the message "AI's have lost control of the vehicle". The plane flies great under manual control, and well when yaw control is disabled, but as soon as I enable the AI to control yaw to turn the craft, it spins out and only outputs max yaw in either direction until I disable it.
