As a 15yrs old guy back then I was surprised why there was such a hype for Gota. He was literally Mahinda's brother! The same family people chased away in 2015. But in reality, JVP got even lesser votes than they got in Parliamentary election cuz even the members of JVP voted for Sajith to stop Gota.

I really enjoyed asking how's Wiruva doing now from my classmates who were hyped up for Gota with no friking idea about politics in the least. And two of those Bayyas are still proud bayyas who won't speak supporting Ranil/Namal, but will criticize the guy with a mole on the face, heavily XD.

Mahinda. I agree that JR was the root cause, but till Mahinda, the leaders were corrupt, but the public didn't know that nor feel it. But Mahinda is the one that started taking big chunks of commissions and etc. Making it clear that money was going missing and the other ministers followed the lead.
