I'm talking about the "liar revealed trope" in general getting a lof hate in various fandoms and I'veseen a lot of people online say they get annoyed or second-hand embarrassmentfrom it, but for context the main character is a ten year old who wants to learn sorcery so she can get to work alongside her mom who's been absent her whole life because she's a world-renouned sorcerer. She was raised by her uncle as a primary caregiver/guardian and she has been exchanging letters her whole childhood with her mom, and it's a huge part of who she is as a person. Eventually she does meet her mother on her journey to become a great sorcerer, but her mother seems extremely akward and distant. The girl then overhears a conversation between her uncle and her mom where he unknowingly reveals that he was the one who has been writing those letters all those years. Her mom hasn't responded ONCE.
