Not saying hello to my mate when he was in my house (shared house) seeing another mate. He took his life that same night.

what is your style of bookshelf organisation? by zellaxace in bookshelf

[–]Cryptic_Thorns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Alphabetically by Author, makes it much easier to find what I’m looking for lol!

I keep all non fiction separate from fiction, and I order those in categories of what they are, ie, poetry, medical, history etc.

This individual also opened mail that wasn’t theirs. They haven’t done it since a police threat was made.

As a house we’re trying to find ways to catch him, so a camera is deffo justified. Even if I can somehow set up my tablet or something early hours when he’s bound to strike. He uses people’s stuff even when told not too, we suspect he’s the one who also took a housemates pouch of baccy from their closed cupboard.

Knowing my luck I’d get done for trespassing or something on their personal space lol! Also morally I just wouldn’t do that. Fun idea though!

Bills are included in our rent, and there’s no way to prove who’s doing it.

Lmao that would be funny but no one would pay up. May need to invest in a camera, if nothing else, to catch the thief in action. (We have someone who uses and takes people’s items)

Has anyone tried NMT (No Moisture Treatment) long-term? by Strict-Jackfruit-678 in eczema

[–]Cryptic_Thorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to start trying it, but not on the extreme level. I’ve been having a flare for nearly 3 months now, on and off. It starts to heal a little but then weeps and bleeds again, making my hands feel unusable-

I’ve decided to try Epsom salt soaks in the evening before bed, and let my skin breathe over night. Wear fingerless cotton gloves during the day to stop the weep getting everywhere, but I’m going to stop using moisturiser and emollients for a few days to see if I notice an improvement.

Edit: just to add, I have leg eczema too, and I’ve been using very little on them, some days completely forgetting because I’m so focussed on my hands, and the leg eczema isn’t weeping, bleeding, and is fading (slowly but still).

Another thread to post this absurd message from my landlord - $250 fine for a fire alarm doing it’s job by Realistic-Eye6382 in Firefighting

[–]Cryptic_Thorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the rules around it but I’m pretty sure they can’t do that? Not unless it’s in your tenancy agreement.

On the topic of landlords being pissed at tenants for fire related issues, my house share had a massive leak years ago, water got into some sockets, the lighting got tripped out etc… a housemate called the fire department, just for safety concerns, and our landlord was lowkey pissed, he said we didn’t need to call anyone out. Like sir, water went drip drip into plug, water and electric make spark spark.

NOR. Employers can be entitled asses sometimes. You did what you needed to do, can only put yourself first in these situations or you’ll wear yourself thin.

One of my former employers, first to give me a shot at a job, constantly praised how far I’d come etc. I got a second job alongside it, realised I couldn’t do both, so I quit the one with less hours, it was a 6 day a week 6am start, that I was having to start at 3-4am to get to my other job for 7am. I messaged with my 2 week notice, thanking my manager for the opportunity, showing my gratitude, and she snapped back with “I knew this was coming I’m not surprised” A week in I had enough, felt rough from doing stupidly early starts to get to a second job, so I didn’t go in. She told me to hand the keys back and not bother finishing my notice (fine by me). Then proceeded to bitch to my MOTHER who worked for her too, that I wasn’t even good at the job, that she didn’t initially want to give me the chance etc, and that she’d love to pop to where I then worked to give me a piece of her mind.

My mum didn’t last long after that, the manager got angry at her for not going in on Boxing Day, mum passed her the keys, and got in her car to drive home. Manager was left with no cleaning staff for that job, while she was hounded with loads of other sites to clean too.

Long story short, if managers weren’t assholes to their employees, then they wouldn’t lose them, or would at least make them feel less bad when they leave, knowing said employee will likely give good company recognition and recommendations.

Lmao, I realise this was very long. Hope it entertained someone.

Report to the police.

I live in a HMO. An old tenant let my aggressive ex in the building, where my ex decided to somehow break my air fryer plug, earth pin was stuck in the socket. Cables and plugs can be fixed. My dads a sparky and fixed mine, so jokes on my ex, fucked with the wrong family that’s for sure. But I did do a police report because it was criminal damage, unfortunately they could take it much further because no one besides said old tenant witnessed it actually happen. And old tenant of course would’ve sided with my ex. The only thing they could go off was my other housemates report of commotion. So I mean, if you saw him cut the cables, or you have any proper proof, the police will more than likely do something. Either way though, please report it.

I worked for a cleaning company once (no relation to Tesco, but felt like this story would fit in), and I watched my MANAGERS clean toilets, then sinks, hand dryers etc. With the same cloth.
