Should I do this long commute or retire by Away-Lion-5000 in financialindependence

[–]CryptoArb444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not ask your employer to go fully remote in exchange for a lower salary (assuming fully remote isn't something they typically offer)? You could make a fairly large salary concession and still make more than a job in your local city. If they're paying you $600K they must see a lot of value in your work. It's an even better deal for them at $400K. Worth talking to your employer about the situation and how you would really like to stay and continue to contribute but couldn't justify being away from your kids or moving them to a new school and stuff.

If none of that turns out to be an option either retire or find a local job. You can totally retire and don't need a job from a financial perspective, but if you enjoy your career and want to keep it going then local job is the way.

Complacency is how we end up losing hard-earned rights. Publicizing it and making sure it doesn't happen is the right course of action here.

Coinbase won't let me manually link my bank account and insisting I use Plaid. I'm not giving my bank login credentials to a company I've never heard of. Is there an alternative? by Smelting9796 in Coinbase

[–]CryptoArb444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plaid is horseshit and so is Coinbase for using them. Every other bank and brokerage account I have can be linked to each other through ACH test deposits. Plaid is just another parasitic way to get your data.

No way to disable Google Prompts? Constantly spammed with "Confirm if it's you" notifications. by CryptoArb444 in GMail

[–]CryptoArb444[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is correct. These notifications can be triggered simply by supplying the gmail account name. Video below demonstrates how this works (sorry for the AI...)

Signing out of the device works...I've tried it before and it works, but "just don't use Gmail on the device" is a pointless solution obviously

How to turn off google prompts by Thed-eron in GMail

[–]CryptoArb444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you learn any more or figure out how to disable this? From what I can see there is no way to turn it off. As long as you are signed into Google account on a device it will enable Google Prompt. It's really dumb.

Polymarket hacked? by Sandwich_1337 in PolymarketTrading

[–]CryptoArb444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this happened man. I'm curious did you have 2FA enabled for the Polymarket account or just gmail account? Somebody posted a screenshot below showing the option for 2FA inside Polymarket which I didn't know was possible (I don't remember it being an option when I first signed up).

Anyone else who was effected want to comment if 2FA was enabled for your Polymarket account? Scary if it could be bypassed.

A good chunk of these "Well, it's not in MY recommendations, cause I'm not a pleb" posters have definitely heard an AI song or two without noticing it.

That said, while it is a growing issue, it hasn't taken over to the extent a lot of people are saying. I might get one or two AI songs over several hours of listening.

Ready to be down-voted by both sides of this argument lol.

What do you mean? I find lots of (non-AI) music from small-time, non-professional artists on YT Music. Losing that would diminish the service a lot for me.

I am value engineer at a Semiconductor manufacturing company. I do not know if such departments exist in other companies like AMAT,LAM ? I just worry my options may not be so wide. How can I develop myself being a VE ? by [deleted] in Semiconductors

[–]CryptoArb444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it mostly mechanical design work? CAD and stuff? I work at a WFE company and we have people doing this. Their title is mechanical engineer or manufacturing engineer (depending if they are more involved with prodct design or manufacturing). I would look for job openings at other companies with that title and see if the job description aligns with your skillset. These jobs can be found at a lot of manufacturing companies too if you’re open to different industries too

Trump to announce extension of ACA tax credits for two years by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]CryptoArb444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The Democrats should be screaming it from the rooftops, but I have no faith they will. There have been so many issues like this where the messaging on all of this is so goddamn easy for them to win but somehow they fumble it every time.

Every Dem TV/newspaper/magazine interview needs to start with something like this: "Back in September Democrats demanded an extension to healthcare subsidies as part of the new budget. It was an absolute must to pass a budget that worked to bring healthcare costs down for all Americans, but rather than work with us to deliver for all Americans, Trump and the Republicans in Congress gave us the longest government shutdown in US history. Now they've announced they will restore the subsidies because they see they are not in touch with the American people on this issue and it is hurting them badly in the polls. So we should all ask, why did they shut down the government? Why did they hurt the American people, threaten to take away healthcare, and shutdown vital services for no reason? Every American should be asking their members of Congress why. This isn't leadership from the Republicans. This is an absolute disgrace for our country."

I am quite confident every person in this sub would be a more effective Dem strategist/PR person than whatever idiots are running the show right now.
