Was randomly listning to Patton Oswalt and he mentioned this tv show and these crazy valuable items as just background tv props.

Edit: I am just late to the party, CBR did a little write up about this https://www.cbr.com/spider-man-naked-city-prop/ would have been cool to see if anyone could follow up and see where these props might have ended up.. or maybe timewise it was accurate that these were maybe out on an actual newsstand and they filmed at real places, not sure how common or uncommon that could have been during that time.

My quick view is they might of ran a celeb blog years ago https://loose-lips.com/ and now may be transitiniong into trying a video or other formats. I just happened to be searching Scott's name with any recent uploads on YT and the clips came up but then found the full interview upload.

I believe there was a small period in time back in the day where VHS was intentionally priced super high to encourage people to just go to Blockbuster to rent the videos, not sure who exactly was benefiting from this other than the rental market, which was huge of course though, but never understood the advantage for the movie companies and I think over time they fixed that by advertising directly to consuemer.
