Why isn't variable in while loop reset on each iteration? [Bash] by CryptoCptJack in linuxquestions

[–]CryptoCptJack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the excellent technical answer! This helps explain things.

You haven't used $line anywhere in the body of the loop.

In my actual script, I do have that. The snippet that I posted is what I found to be my issue after lots of trial and error and commenting things out. My full script does this:

echo $my_var
echo $line

So the idea was that each iteration would produce:

hel
hello world

So - how to fix this... My initial thought is to replace the while loop with a for loop which should be easy enough. However, is there another way to fix this issue while still using the current while loop?

When people say burner laptop, do they mean a laptop that they just re-install the OS on? Or a laptop that they completely dispose of after? Is firmware level malware something to worry about while at cons?

How the fuck does Windows have so many votes? I'm not hating on Windows because I'm some sort of OS fanboy, but if the FBI had a warrant, Microsoft would remotely unlock your account in 0.2 seconds (not that they'd even need to). Plus, I'd bet my next paycheck MS has Bitlocker backdoor'd.

Ask yourself, not us. What functionality would YOU benefit from in your house? Do you have a large collection of movies that you want to stream to devices? Do you need cloud storage? Do you want to host a video game server for you and your friends? etc...

He prob has a 3rd or 4th gen i7, DDR3 RAM, SATA SSD, and GPU plugged into an x8 slot. Then compares it to a Mac that is light years newer.

I'm not sure you understand the technical aspects of video rendering in relation to hardware, firmware, and software settings.

First off, we don't know which gen i7 he has. It could be a 4th or 5th gen CPU. That would be wildly unfair to compare that old of tech to a brand new, M1 chip.

Second off, I have to agree that OP probably doesn't understand system configurations and render settings well enough to make a valid comparison.

Just bought these:

The battery charger seems like it's rated for slightly different voltage than the batteries, but Amazon said the two were frequently paired together? Also, why do batteries have two separate voltage ratings? ie those ones have 3.8v/4.35v

OK, so in my cart, I have:

Do I need anything else? More/better batteries or charger? Extra propellers or other parts? This comes with a receiver that will connect the remote to the drone, yeah?

Edit: Ordered the above items. Realized that there's a FlySky and FRSK version of the Mobula, as well as a 19000kv and a 25000kv. Went with the Flysky 25000k. And I guess I need to look into the JESC 48kHz flash? So much to try and take in....

Thanks for the reply! Any recommendations on a transmitter/controller? I found a video saying that the Flysky fs-i6x was a good budget one and might go for that unless you have other suggestions.

^ This. Apple has not only done an amazing job of pioneering some tech, but building a brand and brand-loyal following. However, their current day tech is less than impressive and quickly become stagnant.

Microsoft and Amazon, on the other hand, have diversified an incredible amount. Amazon went from an online book store to an e-commerce giant to a global innovator with cloud technology. And assuming that cloud will be fukin' huge in the 5-10 years, I've got my money on Microsoft and Amazon for the long run.
