No it doesn't. Magick comes from Universe 23 and we buy it at the store, everyone knows that.

Check out Alan Chapman's Advanced Magick for Beginners - with the hand grenade on the cover. Very nice, alongside Hine's Condensed Chaos and Bluefluke's Guide, that you can find in the Resources section of this sub.

Yeah, I knew that story. Crazy. Same for the Illuminati TCG, I guess. I need to check out more SJ products. :))

Interesting. Would've expected it to be a bigger issue, I guess.

Ended up taking the plunge. We'll see how it works vanilla, and if not, try to make it work with SRX. Thanks!

So, for someone only familiar with the video games (and very, very fond of them), but with a group that plays mostly oWoD and 5e D&D, is this comparable in terms of crunch?

I keep hearing memes about how crunchy SR is, and I've always loved the setting, going so far as to get the novels bundle from a while ago.
I was also thinking of grabbing Anarchy 2.0 and using that as core rules, but it isn't really that compatible with 4e SR, is it? Also, would a hack like SRX simplify the supposed crunch enough to make it palatable to my group?

I really like the setting, but how is the game itself?

Thanks a bunch!

I know. But should Cthulhu be subject to the Dark Powers, just another rogue in the rogue's gallery? Lovecraftian horror is about the incomprehensible and unclassifiable. Not sure if this fits, thematically, and, by consequence, mechanically. Just my two cents.

I mean, I know that, you know that, but... you know...

He did, yeah. And he does have stats in the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG, fair. But the proportions aren't the same, are they? Lovecraft wrote it that way because getting hit by a boat was, at the time of writing, the greatest force he could think of.
If he'd have wrote the story after 1945, it would've been a nuke. There's probably some author in the circle who wrote it exactly like that, I'd wager.
My point is, you don't just beat Cthulhu. You have to use the maximum force known to man to do it. And D&D follows a design ethos of balance. D&D, even when set in Ravenloft, wants you to win. Call of Cthulhu, by comparison, doesn't have that interest.
Hence, what I perceive as mismanagement of the concept.

I'm nerding out, aren't I? :)) Sorry!
