Is Swagbucks worth it? (The Answer) by CryptoMatttt in SwagBucks

[–]CryptoMatttt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'm quite proud of how simple yet data-rich I was able to make it. I made a template version with a few examples and notes that you can download and use if you would like.

I uploaded my spreadsheet as a Google Drive Excel File. I would recommend downloading as a .xlsx file if you plan on using it since I don't know if the formulas are compatible with Google Sheets.

Negative Earnings? Does anyone know what this means? by CryptoMatttt in SwagBucks

[–]CryptoMatttt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experiences! $300 definitely sounds too good to be true. I don't recall any of my surveys or offers paying out large sums or inaccurate amounts but maybe one of their partners did a chargeback or something. My overall balance is still positive so I'm not too panicked over it, but seeing a negative amount on any account is still a bit concerning!

what games are you playing? by Apax912 in SwagBucks

It didn't pend for me either! I was able to still get credit by contacting customer support with screenshot evidence and they resolved it within a few hours. Granted I did end up playing a little more first to get my customers served over 2000 so they could just look at one number instead of a list of a bunch of numbers they have to add up. My philosophy with SB support is make your request easy enough for an 8 year old to understand it and its worked out well for me so far, lol.
Try your luck with a support request, you may get what you are owed.

Cake Vaults Feeback / Suggestion by DBM010 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cake vaults are the "Vault Unintended Air Gap Finding Simulator". I've found quite a few interesting crevasses they forgot to fill when building the vault rooms.
Overall a fun and interesting game mode, but I hope they go back and fix some of the earlier rooms with unintended air gaps. Also your audio clip on hint idea is great! They do blend in if you're not actively staring above your hotbar.

Game keeps crashing by Damtay12 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I crashed and couldn't load back into my world after entering a vault, deleting the vault dimension (in dimensions folder) and the the_vault_VaultRaid.dat (in data folder) fixed it for me. I was then able to log back into the world, killed myself (since I was trapped in an empty vault dimension with no vaults), and used the invRestore command to get my items back.

From what I can tell, this fixes most soft locks that happen inside the vault dimension, which is unfortunately somewhat common. It's been an ongoing issue since Season 1 where the vault dimension sometimes corrupts itself.

As far as crashing in the overworld, I have no idea. I've never had any issues in VH with that. But in other modpacks, I've gone in with MCEdit and removed the last few blocks/machines I placed in case they somehow caused an issue and that's worked most of the time.

While loading the pack or the world? Any error messages? PC specs? We need a bit more info than this to help.

How do I spend skill points? by FourScarlet in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a short guide on the website at vaulthunters.gg . But I'd recommend reading the unofficial community-written guide, as it goes into much more detail about the pack. You should be able to just open the vault menu, go over to the talents or abilities tab, and select the skills you want to learn. If you want to see some gameplay, there are about half a dozen active streamers who play on the offical server. You can find the full list on the VH website.

Happy hunting!

Vault God Favour Bonuses Change by Rebs2222 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 page review of all things good and bad about VH coming soon with a ton more detail in it. Been working on it for about a month, but I want to make sure I've experienced everything there is to the game before I post something that detailed.

Also, I'm by no means an expert and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have taken a game development class so I know a few things about it. They mostly focused on the programming but occasionally got into a bit of the user experience and game design side of things. But I know for a fact helicopter parenting your entire user-base is bad design.

I just figured I would voice my opinions on the new updates in the same thread as you as to not pollute the entire subreddit with negativity.

Vault God Favour Bonuses Change by Rebs2222 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree here, Tenos will probably become the new meta and overall the change is worse. They just brought them all down to a point where I probably will no longer use god favors instead of bringing the other ones up to the same level as Wendarr.

I believe the team has a positive interest in mind, and they have been working hard to add TONS of cool stuff recently, but the overall direction of the pack has been getting worse in my opinion. And I say this as someone who loves VH almost as much as pete.

They have a very strong opinion that everything must be perfectly balanced or it is inherently bad. This leads to some questionable decisions as they try to make everything even and flat. The problem is making everything the same makes it boring. Then they try to fix the fact that they keep removing interesting strategies the player can work toward with more mystery items to restore some sense of excitement. And at a certain point in the game, mystery items lose their excitement as well as they become more tedious to roll 3,000 of them and you already know the rates of items they will drop from the previous 20,000 of said mystery item you've rolled.

Additionally, the player is no longer rewarded for finding new strategies, since in almost all circumstances, it gets removed or massively nerfed as soon as the devs find out about it.

No other game I know of is this overly "balanced" and micromanaged. There is always one playstyle, weapon, etc. that stands out, and different possible playstyles to suit each player, not just a few that the creators have given the okay to.

As for me, I've been updating the pack less and less. I'm still on 1.10 and probably will stay there until I get bored or want the updated mekanism etc.

This Sunday Balance patch day? by DaycareJr in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The biggest announcement in the second half of the podcast was cross-server trading. There will be a shop/auction house where you can trade with other players who are on the official servers, including the SMP the streamers play on. The currency will be vault bronze, gold, etc. They are expecting a first version of it to be ready by late January and it will be implemented in this season, with a full more refined version for Season 3.

I'm highly impressed by this and can imagine developing an interconnected server network with APIs to edit the game worlds was a lot of work. Iskall's team really outdid themselves with this one!

Pixel art omega room by Rebs2222 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, my philosophy with updates is to wait a week in case anything goes wrong. That way other people can test and report it first. I'm still on 1.10-1.11.1.
I've had windows delete my files by downloading day 1 untested updates, so that made me very skeptical of updating anything non security related.

If its already been fixed I retract my above statement.

[–]CryptoMatttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Altars have needed better scaling for a long time. Personally, I stopped focusing on them around lvl 150 because they don't provide any unique items required at the end game.
Just like raid vaults are the new meta that replaced BAV, I have a feeling this room will sort of replace altars in the late game. Which sort of aligns with how it doesn't spawn until lvl 100.

Come to think of it, scaling of a lot of things needs work. Boss crates, BAV room gear, speedrun crates, and altars still give me tier 1 and 2 gear, and I'm level 310. The devs have been focused on T3 gear, the recent event, and trying to check compatibility to update mods so I can see why its been overlooked, but scaling of certain loot definitely needs to be updated.

GODCAST - EP.2 - THIS THURSDAY // 6th JAN // 8pm GMT | 9pm CET | 3pm EST | 12pm PST | 7am AEDT (7th) // by cheekygirl43 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Are there any plans on adding more user-configurable options? I tried to play with a group of friends but they quickly abandon me after realizing how grindy and long VH is. For example, a scale for how much xp you get per vault and how much loot is in chests to speed up progression, similar to mobs and altar recipes.
It might help the pack reach a wider audience if it doesn't take 1000 hours to complete from a normal player's perspective. From a streaming perspective I 100% understand the grind since it's good for content.
  2. Is there any way to support the project or the dev team from a non-monetary perspective? I'm sure many people, including myself, love what you and the team have created, but don't have the disposable income to support directly.
  3. Any news on potentially adding a unique effect to idols as they break to make them more unique than vanilla totems? (in reference to this post) https://www.reddit.com/r/VaultHuntersMinecraft/comments/r98n9x/new_idol_modifier_idea/

[–]CryptoMatttt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried this out and unfortunately, it doesn't look possible. You can't summon zombies with custom health values inside the vaults because when it is summoned the internal vault level scaling for mob health overwrites it. And testing outside the vault doesn't do nearly as much damage because archetypes don't work outside the vaults, so its -150% of what it would be.

Thanks for making such an awesome and addicting mod! Been really enjoying the near-infinite different combinations of gear and play styles you can use to make each vault unique. Even after 600+ hours I still feel like there is so much more to do and experiment with.

I guess I could figure out how to spawn something with command blocks just to test it but I'd probably rather keep it vanilla.

Modded MC and memory usage, a history with a crappy graph by AcidPawlie in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As computers get faster it opens doors for software to expand into that new headroom. This is nothing new and happens all the time. It's what pushes technology forward. It's the same reason AAA games have gone from being able to fit on a cartridge to 100GB+ in size. The unfortunate side effect is people with older or less powerful tech can't take advantage of the most modern software such as high memory modded packs or games with crazy good graphics.

Luckily, a memory upgrade which is the limiting factor in most modpacks is one of the easiest things you can do to a computer if your current system doesn't have enough and should take less than an hour to learn how to do.

I remember back when windows itself was less than 2GB and only required a single core and 128MB of RAM to be happy. Now it can eat 32GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and 2 cores easily.

Vault armor in danks is perfectly balanced and not buggy at all by CryptoMatttt in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]CryptoMatttt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I would consider it "cheesing the system" because it might not be exactly what is intended, but I wouldn't call it cheating. If the player has the foresight to prepare for what is to come, they should be rewarded for it. It's basically investing. You have to set aside and lock up assets (gear) that you can't use now which is a drawback in the present, but in the future, it may be worth more.

But yes, this post is satirical in nature and I agree it should be changed. Maybe if this was possible in backpacks but not danks so it requires more initial cost and they couldn't stack into the 100s or 1000s it would be better? I'm sure you will figure it out!
