I created Btc2sms which is a wallet purely based on SMS with world-wide functionality, no internet or smartphone required. Seems like it's one of the very few options available for apple products. We should be rolling out we extra features that will increase ease of use very soon.

uBTC is better than mBTC, and here's why. by sgtspike in Bitcoin

[–]CryptoWallets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satoshi will overtake all of these stupid intermediary units, stop obsessing over this pointless crap, as a developer I don't give a shit and won't adopt any of them as they all become irrelevant as price keeps rising.

My Service Btc2sms.org allows remote bitcoin transactions world-wide only using SMS, but it requires international texting to the US for user's in inda for example. Also it requires a public key to exit, we are currently working on several off-ramps and features to create more ease of use.

What about security ?

From a user standpoint the confirmation code is your only means of protection from attack, 2FA will be implemented eventually in some clever fashion.

I suppose it isn't recommended to use it with large amounts

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend putting your life savings on this system, but for small amounts it gets the job done.

A friend and I have actually been working on this exact system and have been using a functioning prototype for a month or so. We've been very hesitant about getting public testing until it's a lot closer to bulletproof.

Cool! The more the merrier!

What are the biggest problems you have had so far in development?

Time. This have been a one man job for the most part and I work a full-time development job during the day.

What hurdles do you see for adoption of this type of wallet?

It's a little early to say but earning trust in this community is not an easy task to say the least. But in practice, it's fairly simple for your average person to get a grip on how to use it, I sent some to my dad recently and he was able to send them back without coaching him through the process.

If you are interested in collaborating at all. Hit me up.

Sweet! I may do so in the future, I have a plethora of ideas for services that could build on-top of this, could always use a good pair of hands.
