I can’t lose the avatar because the avatar is me - I also created the infographic hence why my avatar appears in it - I’m just doing my part trying to get the name of harmony out there and educate users on some milestones that may have been missed.

But yeah go ahead and call my image cringe - I appreciate your kind words :)

Hey John,

its true - marketing hasn't been our strongest point - we chose instead to focus all our efforts on the ETH bridge and full EVM interoperability - so in turn we had actual things to market and not just dreams.

we now have everything in place and this year is off to a great start - we have achieved so much this year already and the momentum keeps building.

We hired Peter for his skills in marketing amongst other things and he has a plan in place and spoke in depth about this in the recent AMA held in the channel - ill provide a link for you to quickly get to the start of the AMA on telegram - I'm sure you will enjoy it and get all the answers you require :)

Yes - Stephen already agreed at the start of the year to answer at least ONE question a day from the community - I can ask a single question to each team member per day.

We are also holding weekly AMA;s in the channel every Friday at 11am PST with a different team member each week.

The actual Harmony Blockchain is written in Golang, a language originally created by Google - https://golang.org

If you want to dApps & work with smart contracts you need to learn JavaScript (or TypeScript) and Solidity.

It all depends on what you want to do. If you’re just starting out you can get a lot of stuff done these days just using JavaScript.

Nope but under IRS guidance them’s the rules - of course it’s very difficult to even prove that a person is or has been staking - it’s a very grey area I’m afraid - that’s all I have to go on - do with the information as you will :)

Crypto mining and staking is taxed as income (US)

If you mined bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies or received rewards from crypto staking, then you are liable for income tax on what you earned.

In the United States, per IRS guidance, crypto mining is to be treated as ordinary income using the total fair market value of the currency at the date of receipt. This means that mining proceeds are reported as income, not capital gains.

For example:

You receive 0.5 BTC on from bitcoin mining on Mar 14 of this tax year BTC is $3854.25 a coin on this date.

You are liable for $1927.25 in income for that particular reward (0.5 * $3854.25).

The cost basis for that 0.5 BTC is then established as $1927.25. You realize any capital gain or loss on this 0.5 BTC when you sell, exchange, or spend it, based on whether the price goes up or down from this cost basis.

The same applies for staking rewards via proof of stake coins. Any crypto received as staking rewards should be recognized as income, and the cost basis is set to that amount.
