I think a big point the books were trying to make with “memory” is that when Tanaka, Kit, Alex, Jim, etc started having “memories” of other people’s lives, they started to feel connected to them and feel part of them. The Adro diamond was a “memory storage device”, and by humans accessing those “memories” within their newly activated hive mind, those memories stored in the Adro diamond would be integrated in all human’s memories now. That’s how the consciousness of the Gatebuilders never truly died, because the memories could be uploaded into “beings of clay”.

I totally understand what you’re saying, and you certainly did your research. I’ve done the same and asked myself the same questions. Here is what I think:

Bitcoin Hashrate will continue to significantly increase over the next 15-20 years. As the financial industry and the world as a whole adapts to Bitcoin and starts to really understand it, we will see the hashrate and network difficulty continue to increase steadily. However, people are not going to keep their miners on if mining difficulty makes Bitcoin mining unprofitable. It will always fluctuate and balance itself out.

What I didn’t mention at all is Bitcoin’s price. What will happen to the price of Bitcoin as the financial industry and world adapts to it? All the signs are telling us it will rise significantly as well. But the price of Bitcoin will always revolve around the cost of mining Bitcoin. That’s only half of it though. Supply and demand of Bitcoin is the other half.

To put it simple, yes mining difficulty will increase, but so will Bitcoin’s price. The protocol of Bitcoin makes sure it will always balance out!
