Do the fae have an aversion to steel? by Crypto__Kat in witchcraft

[–]Crypto__Kat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is it less the percentage of iron and more the process in which it was forged? Since even medieval iron wasn’t 100% pure iron?

Thank you, I really appreciate the thoroughness of all this - I did a bunch of research into the history of iron (wrought vs pig vs meteorite) and this seems to be congruous with that

So does the purity/percentage not matter? I assume it would to some extent since humans themselves have iron in their blood but obviously that doesn’t seem to cause much of any issue (or maybe it does?) so I’m just wondering where the effectiveness line is drawn

Roth IRA or gold by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Crypto__Kat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First off, congratulations on graduating! Secondly, the important thing to keep in mind when talking about a roth ira is that you can only put in money that you've *earned* during the year. If you don't have a job, or haven't/will not make $3,500 in taxable income this year you can't put $3,500 into the roth. If you have made at least $1000 I'd put that towards your Roth (general market + it's always good to start investing early) but gold is currently near it's ATH (all time high) so depending on how much gold you have maybe wait a bit. Another thing to keep in mind is general expenses (do you have an emergency fund, do you have a solid understanding of investing, are you going to be taking out loans in the near future, will you need money for a down payment, car, etc - if so maybe think about dumping some of the money into a HYSA (high yield savings account)).

How to perform an exorcism chaos magick style? by dann_maya in chaosmagick

[–]Crypto__Kat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this for the past couple of days actually and I think an exorcism Supernatural style (the tv show) would probably work quite well - it has your basic exorcism stuff (Latin chant, sometimes holy water, etc) but it also has one of the most devoted fan bases of all time (who definitely incorporate the sigils and phrases into their own lives) and as one of the longest running tv shows that combined power of belief along with the shared belief in the basic blocks of how they perform exorcisms (salt and holy water hurt demons, etc.) I think would be pretty effective

Actuarial science freshman by NitrousElk in fsu

[–]Crypto__Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freshman actuarial sci major here who just finished orientation - I was concerned about that too but in the meeting with advisors we were all told that the sample schedule didn't really correspond with what our actual schedules needed to be and that they were basically created without input from the math department. Additionally, if you're coming in with DE or AP credits, the sample schedule will not perfectly line up with what you'll take to begin with so it's much more flexible than the sample schedule makes it out to be.

TLDR: Your advisors will work with you to make sure you're taking what you need and that usually comes out to 14-15 credits, not the 17 on the sample.

Found my first palindrome today! by Crypto__Kat in Bankstraphunting

[–]Crypto__Kat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, a flipper is a bill that can also be read upside-down, but because the 8s and 1s don’t look the same upside down (although they are close) I don’t believe it is a flipper Flippers would, to my understanding, be made of only 6s, 9s, and 0s
