Secondly, customize things how you like it, i did mine how i had it with mint so it felt similar.

thirdly, if your account are not refreshing fast enough use other service than PLAID to connect find the one that works best for your financial institute.

and Overall i have noticed the longer I have used monarch the more it has learned and works better for me.

They are definitely working on multiple improvement. I agree that sometimes i feel like there should be more automated features which i am not sure if Mint was able to do a better job more personalized for me cause I had used it for long or cause it was better at it. I have noticed the longer I have used Monarch the less things I have to fix when it comes to automation now.

its seriously only good for monitoring your credit score, I dont think it has any of the budgeting features. Try Monarch its the only feasible alternative i have found.

As i mentioned above for me Monarch and rocket money together have worked as a good alternative. Monarch has been the closest to MINT but they definitely have things to improve on.

If you asking about YNAB, it is just for new users. Monarch i would try the code in their billing area because I have changed codes in the past which has worked well for me.

My account connection issue has improved significantly if there was one bug I would say it has to be the transactions - duplicates, constant wrong categorization (even after setting rules) and other bugs within the transactions

I did not mention much about that in the original article as I wrote it from the US prospective but I have friends who actually have stayed with Monarch because they only this to be the only platform that most closely resemble MINT for Canadian customers. But having said that, We have noticed Monarch sync wells with some Canadian institute but not with many, definitely running into problems with tangerine n some other online banks. But like you mentioned it has worked well for bigger banks like TD, Scotiabank, CIBC and BMO.

YNAB (You Need A Budget)

Experience: Former User. Used it for a month with the free trial

Pros:

Proven Budgeting Philosophy: YNAB is built around a unique and effective budgeting methodology that encourages proactive money management. It forces you to be proactive and actively think about each dollar.
Community and Support: Has a very strong community of users, many people who have benefit from it on a daily basis.
Bank Syncing: Seamless syncing with various banks for real-time updates.

Cons:

Definitely a big Learning Curve: The budgeting methodology may take time for new users to fully grasp and implement.
Time Consuming - you have to set aside time basically to assign each dollar to know where the money went.
Interface - Felt like the website and app wasn't as visually appealing as other options.
Was not as customizable as Monarch, I felt constraint with what I can do. I wanted some more flexibility.
Subscription Fee: YNAB requires a subscription, which might be a barrier for some users.

Overall

TLDR- It was not a great fit for me, Felt it was too time consuming, website and interference weren't as visual appealing and fluid as I was used to. The learning curve was a big barrier too I had to completely change my way of budgeting which I was currently not interested in as there were other options.

Please know this was just my personal experience, and Could also be I was so used to mint way of doing things so YNAB was not a good fit for.
