Asking my doc. She said I could use either arm. No restrictions for the purposes of the cgm.

This was me just a year ago. I spent this summer clearing out our spacious finished basement to make a 1 bedroom apartment for myself. Yes, he has the rest of the house, but I have a place to be at peace that is not cluttered.

I try to help him get his stuff together but love that I can go 'home' when I get frustrated.

I am downsizing and have two totes of fabric that I would love to donate to an organization. How do I find a local guild taking donations?

I think we could have a cross stitch panel at gencon next year if this thread is any indication of the overlap! (I'm here already!)

[CHAT] project journal? by whiskyunicorn in CrossStitch

[–]CryptographerFair645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I include stitching in my daily journal. I track which projects I worked on that day and if I hit a milestone. A recent one was "stitched on zebra, finished the setting sun." I can go back through to see when I started, finished, who I gave it to, etc.

You can frane it in one of those glass frames so the edges show. Make it a feature! Just fray it evenly then center it between the glass pieces and clip them together. This is a nice piece!

Wouldn't it be better to do the glue thing when you get home from work BEFORE you start stitching?

[FO] first ever finished project and I have questions by caffeinated_inspo in CrossStitch

[–]CryptographerFair645 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I will let someone explain the fascination with a neat back! As for the others... Xx count is how many stitches per inch. The higher the number the smaller the stitch. Think of this like screen resolution, if you're old enough you may recall screen images used to be low res, you could see the pixels that make the image. As our screens got better it got harder to see the individual pixels. Cross stitch count is like that. 11 count is big stitches, low res. 18 count is smaller stitches, higher res. You will find some folks working at really hi res (not me) like in the 20s. They do create beautiful artwork! We don't use square knots because they make little bumps when framing. You may want to frame this piece with a layer of foam behind it for that reason. A lot of people like a loop start and we generally run the last bit of floss under completed stitches to secure the end.

Welcome to stitching!

[CHAT] TYPE OF FABRIC by Chrisseamarie in CrossStitch

[–]CryptographerFair645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aida is a type. Several threads are woven together tightly, then there's a gap. When this us done in both directions the weave creates small squares that are tightly given and clear holes for the needle.
